GottaBe's rear cargo box build

[MENTION=37079]GottaBeTRD[/MENTION] Ok, it's been a few months now. I'm trying to source some carpet for my cargo boxes and was wondering how yours was holding up? I've got a lot of bends and angles in my boxes so I'd need it to work around those easily. BTW, these came our really nice. I like them.

Thanks man, It's Been holding up pretty good! I've had to touch up some glue on the edges of some of the carpet that goes in the drawer slots but other than that it's been quite solid. I think it's mostly my fault for not using enough glue

Sweet. Sounds like a good source for carpet then. Do you think the 60 sq/ft. (15x4) will be enough to do both of my boxes or probably smart to get 2 rolls or a larger single roll like the 80 sq/ft. It's hard to put that size in perspective but since you actually saw the roll in person I figured you'd might have a good idea. yeah I think it's nicer than that really hairy grey stuff. I actually had quite a bit extra after this. give me sec ill shoot a pic of of what I had. I think you should be good with the 60 sq ft but it's always good to have extra in case you make a bad cut
 
im gonna eventually use this to attach a folding sleeping platform, but I gotta wait till time exists again lol here are some shots of what i had left over

 
I think I'll get the 80 sq/ft.. Like you said, I rather have too much than not enough. It will probably be way more than I need but for the price it really isn't all that much. Plus, It comes with 2 cans of glue. How hard was it to cut, just use a razor blade knife?
 
oh man it was really easy. I used scissor's, they glided right through. but yeah go for the 80 sq feet. I almost ran out of glue. you should be good with that.

Thanks! I've used the hell out of them so far. They come in really handy. I just need to finish them and get them back in the truck. I miss the extra bass cus the stock speakers suck and I miss having my tools on me at all times. Makes me nervous lol.
 
Looks really nice. If you did the sides in front of the fender wells you could put lids on hinges and use them for small loose parts and dirty tools.
 
Not to revive a ridiculously old thread, but I will:

This is a great build, man! Thanks for taking so many pics of everything you did. I've been scouring the internet trying to piece together different aspects of all the different builds out there.

One question: how did you know how much of a gap to leave between the actual drawer and the frame in order to leave space for the drawer slides?

So, I am in the process of doing this exact same thing to my 2015 Trail Edition. I already have the subwoofer from my 2008 Tacoma, but I am debating other changes while I am in the process of diving head first.

Questions:

1)Which amp are you powering the sub with?

2)What other audio changes did you make?

3)Are you still happy with this setup? (size, weight, sound, useability, etc...)

Really good! Got the cargo box built and carpeted, the subwoofer installed, amp installed, hidden light bar installed, and most of the wiring ready to go.

...still have to do the rest of the sleeping platform (forward part of the cargo box), camping lights, compressor, air bags, and some more camera/DVR stuff.

I got slowed down on projects when someone tried to take the front end off my 4Runner. $2,500 in fender, bumper, and passenger door damages.

I will have to start up a build thread soon... I have done way too much to my 4Runner lately. I was up until 1:30AM installing the CompuStar T11 Remote Start and Alarm System. I do have some pictures on my Instagram account - @Trail_or_Sail. I use it for family stuff too. So, the account is private, but if you send a follow request I will add you.

I will try to get a build thread up in the next few weeks.
