GPS, Sat Radio, CB, FRS, Cell all set to hit the road!

I think I consumed far more time this weekend than my family cared for getting ready for our trip to Death Valley next weekend but I am happy with the setup.

Except for the CB mic. cord, I managed to hide all the wires and run power without using the cig lighter in the little hide-a-way storage bin.

hey is that a sprint cell phone holder? i think i see the sprint logo on it. looks like you have a samsung. if so, is that holder universal for most samsungs? where did you get it from?

Heck of a setup. Especially impressed with the lack of wires, and ability to rig all that up without usage of the lighter socket. You got everything I want in my 4Runner. When can I stop by for you to help set it all up. LOL

Actually, I already got the Sirius satellite radio. I like the placement of your antenna on the rear roof. I will have to try that out. I'm planning on buying a Garmin GPS 76cs this summer. My wiring skills s*ck, so I will be using my lighter socket.

Looks like a great setup. I travel with a Magellan GPS, Sprint cell phone, Cobra CB in my 4Runner all the time. I love it when they all start beeping or buzzing at one time, GPS telling me to turn, text messages from CNN coming in via cell. No Sat radio...yet! We were in Death Valley in the 4R last May...remember it well...what a trip. Enjoy it, and post lots of pics for those of us stuck in the swampland!

Yes it's a Samsung phone. The holder is one of those $12 jobs from Pep Boys - R-Racing or S-Racing I think it says on the front. Fits perfect. In the past I just clipped it onto one of the air vents but now I am using the sticky back mount that comes with the unit.

I have an 05 and got Sirius recently, I need to my mount antenna and I see what you've done and it looks good. How did you route the antenna wire from the rear to the front and does closing the hatch pinch the wire?

Any help, especially pics would be much appreciated.

I ran the wire thru the headliner. Just run it along the doors where the trim meet. There is a wiring loom in the rear hatch and this is where my wire exits and then just goes up to the roof. I'll see if I can get some pictures for ya soon.

I just butchered a cell phone holder (Pep Boys Type R Racing) that clips onto the vent. I have never had a problem with it falling from there. Once again, I'll take some pictures and post them here for ya soon.

For the CB install I have a new setup which works much better. It uses the same Cobra equipment but now I use a magnetic antenna that has most of the wiring hidden. Only the last three feet of coaxial is exposed when in use and can be easily disconnected when not in use.

Here's the conncetion I used in the rear.

I stuck my XM antenna on the center channel speaker up on my dash, ran the extra cord way down to the bottom of the winshield around by the A-pillar, up over the guage cluster (tucked in the seam), and mounted my XM in the driver side center vent. Seems to be alot better than running that stupid antenna wire all over the place.

Just a cheap and easy way to do it, and it doesn't look bad either.

I ran my Sirius antenna today, it took like 20 minutes and was easy. Thanks for the pics and thoughts, it was real easy and looks good.
