Grabber X3 or Treadwright Claw M/T?

I'm trying to decide between the two. I know all the specs and stuff, but I would like to hear from people who have either of these (or both?) as well as pictures of them on your 4runner, specifically in the 265/75/16 size. There are a few reviews out there for them both but not enough to really help me make a solid decision. Also, before you say Guard Dogs, they don't make them in the size I'm wanting.

I'll just add that I have loved every set of treadwrights I have ran. I have only ran the Guard Doggs and Wardens. The Wardens last forever. The Guard Doggs not so much.

One issue with Treadwrights lately has been balancing. They always balance fine but require a lot more weights than any other tire I have ever ran. This has been an issue since they moved to Bead to Bead retreads.

Thanks for the input. I wish they put the weight for the Treadwrights online though. How to they perform off-road? I certainly like the price and the great warranty, but the balancing thing has me worried.

They have always balanced, just noticed I had a few more weights than normal, tire shop always talked how nice they looked and for the price they were very surprised.

Offroad amazing. I have ran Wardens and BFG A/T and both had the exact same performance offroad. If you get he kedge grip nothing else can beat them.

Can you explain why you were displeased with them? I need a little more info if you could.

And [MENTION=50342]JayRolla[/MENTION] I've noticed most people who are unhappy with them had the re-treaded versions as opposed to the B2B versions. Has this been your experience as well? I wonder if these B2B remolds will be more reliable. I've seen some pretty scary pictures of blowouts from the previous re-tread type Treadwrights. Also, how does a load E ride?

I'm trying to figure out if the reliability and quality of their tires is better now as opposed to when a lot of people used them on the re-tread type.

Ive noticed the balancing issue more so after they went B2B. The blow outs you speak of are the few pictures online that have been circulating around for years. I have gotten 30-50k per set depending on AT vs MT.

I still like my treadwrights. Im on my second set, wife on her second set. My buddy runs them on his 3rd gen, another buddy on his FJ and my brother has them on his 4th gen. No one has complained.

They were bead to bead remolds, probably about 8 months ago at this point.

Thanks everyone. I think I'm going to go for the Grabbers. I'm not opposed to getting treadwrights at all I just would like to wait until there's more information and reviews about them. Grabbers have everything I need without the doubt in my mind as to whether or not they will stay together.

Im on my 2nd set of treadwrights and I have nothing but good things to say about them. The performance offroad is awesome (they use a similar tread pattern to the old MTR which is a pretty legendary tire) and I got about 60,000km or 40,000 miles out of my first set which were 265/75/16. I'd consider that a good lifespan for MT's. I have about 25,000 miles on my current set of 285/75/16 and they are fairly worn but they've seen A LOT of offroad abuse and I think I'll still get another 8-12 months out of them.

I've also never punctured a single one of these tires and I do a lot of rock crawling @ 12psi. Also had good performance in deep snow @ 8 psi. People are always blown away by how well my truck performs offroad for some reason and I think these tires are part of it.

The amount of damage on my rims gives you an idea of the abuse these tires go through:

Depends on operation, but I have had a set of Treadwrights Guard dogs and I wouldn't do it again. Especially because I think they have gone up in price.

Horrible to balance, had an issue with one making an odd, and very unnerving noise (flap flap flap... (yea.. not THAT)), and all 4 dry cracked. Very heavy tires.

The one good thing is they wear very well. I have quite a bit of tread left on them, but won't be installing them come spring. I'm worried about the cracks. I purchased a set of Duratracs to go on my summer wheels here soon.

I have General Grabbers AT's on my sprinter van and like them.
