Did you check the spots of the boots that have the clamps? I can almost guarantee you it's your CVs.

If it's just a splatter, and not a coating, the bands are probably there still, and you may just have to reseat the bands. I would suggest buying new bands, however. Install them, then regrease the boots.
From what I read just now on this forum, it appears to be Molybdenum disulphide lithium base chassis grease because it's described as light grey.
This grease is injected into the zerk fittings.
I recall last time I got the oil changed that I asked about lubing the chassis.
Since then, I haven't looked until today. I wonder if the tech overshot the grease and sprayed it everywhere.
It's definitely light gray in color. I'm not sure it's the same grease that's inside the CV boot.

Light? Okay, probably not CV as the grease is closer to black.

Looks like the milkshake to me ie; c/v
which means what? that water got into the cv boot?
Is it true that Toyota has a replacement kit that the dealer can install?
what does it consist of?

CV Grease is typically a grayish green when fresh/not contaminated. When its been exposed and mixed with dirt and grime it becomes blackish-gray.

That doesn't look light to me

The link above is CV axle grease which I don't think is the same as driveshaft grease, but I could be wrong... typically I only see CV axle grease in unlabeled bags with Toyota boot kits so I have no idea what it is.
You said CV grease is grayish green but turns black when exposed to water and dirt.
So based the stuff on the cv joint in the link below, do you think my cv joint boot is leaking?

I took a look in my wheel well and the amount that's splattered looks much more than could come from that small boot.
This is why I think it may be Molybdenum disulphide lithium base chassis grease, which looks like this:

The key phrase in the pics thread was post lift . Typically after a lift the boots are stretched & or slightly dry so hence the milkshake goo , however that looks like a little of both . I bought the boots & grease packs from dealership .
