I got my gray one for my 21st in August and my friend got her's for Christmas

I guess the phrase "all good things must come to an end" turns out to be true sometimes...

It was 3AM and raining and she was going up a curvy mountain road. The road curved, she didn't. Hello tree...

WTF! Was that the same day she got it? I hope she's doing ok. Looks like the damage was contained in the engine compartment as designed so hopefully she wasn't hurt.

She is fine, luckily only some scrapes and bruises, so yes her baby protected her just like it was supposed to! She got the 4Runner back in November and this just happened (early May). It had about 9,000 miles on it.

Sorry to hear that her 4Runner was destroyed. The good thing is that she is fine.

Insurance company is still determining whether to total it or not, she will know in a few days. The main question is if the engine is still good so the body shop guys gotta check it out and talk with the insurance people...

Oh yea...both airbags deployed, her side mirror controls fell down in the door and several of the HVAC controls were busted. I wouldn't be surprised if the JBL 6Disc is screwed too.

I found out that it was taken to the local Ford dealership (They are the only authorized insurance place in the area and the people there claim it is $26,000 worth of damage!! WTF!!! The insurance guy and her dad are callin' up Toyota and gettin' another estimate. The Ford place here is a piece of shit and doesn't know what it is talkin' about. That 4Runner is prolly the nicest thing that has been in that lot in a loooooong time (I'm not a fan of Fords...)

my dads friend had a bentley hit and it had less damage then that it was only 22k and were talking about a 200k car.

those ford people are stupid as hell. I hate ford as well.

I'd be surprised if the second estimate is a lot higher than that? How much are you expecting the damages to total? I personally think it should be around there or $30k, but probably not over $30k. But I don't really know anything about being an insurance adjuster..

That's GOOD that they claim the damage is $26k.... That just means your friend can go out and buy a brand new one to replace it.

Don't take it somewhere else; let them total it out.

actually front bumper grill and hood.. no engine damage or it would have been 50 to 60k

most insurance companies dont wanna hear of an accident on a high end car cuz it means they're gonna be bankrupt

That is some crazy stuff!
What college do/did you guys go to? I am from Asheville and went to Appalachian State for a semester. It looks like you might be in that area from the pics; maybe Western Carolina. I loved it up there and miss the mountains so much.
