The NPR Radio Show, This American Life, had a great episode last week on the inner workings of a dealership in Long Island. They recorded and provided background of the dealership as they tried to meet their sales goals for the month... 129 new vehicles and 70 used vehicles. Here's the description from their website:
The episode provided a lot of insight that I will probably use when I look to purchase my next 4R... definitely will try to wait until the very end of the month to make my purchase! While the show wasn't Toyota specific, I'm sure that the workings from manufacturer to manufacturer are pretty much the same.
Anyway... here's the link. Enjoy.

We spend a month at a Jeep dealership on Long Island as they try to make their monthly sales goal: 129 cars. If they make it, they'll get a huge bonus from the manufacturer, possibly as high as $85,000 — enough to put them in the black for the month. If they don't make it, it'll be the second month in a row. So they pull out all the stops.
