Grinding noise on full-lock

I've recently started hearing a rather alarming grinding/groaning noise when on full lock going over mild bumps (such as into a driveway). The noise ocurs when the front wheel first hits the bump.

My guess is that the steering bumpers (or whatever controls the steering limit) are simply rubbing as the wheels articulate but I wanted to get other opinions on whether there is anything else I should investigate. There's no other strange noises from the steering or suspension to report. If it is the steering bumpers then should I lubricate them or just ignore the noise?

grinding noise on full lock- problem solved, lubricate the wheel stops

Over a period of the last 6 or so months, I noticed a noise (a clunk, thunk, or grating noise) when the sterring wheel was turned to full lock (all the way as in a U turn). This happened today when I made a U turn and so I took the car to the dealer to investigate. Frankly I thought it was a CV joint but that turned out not to be the case thanks to Stevenson Toyota in Lakewood, CO who provided fabulous customer service. I explained the problem to a 0service advisor who call the lead technician and we drove the car around the lot. Thankfully I was able to duplicate the noise driving in a tight circles. the technician then asked me drive over a slight depression when the wheel was turned completely and the noise was definite and much louder. The technician felt the problem was the "wheel stops" and he solved the problem by lubricating the stops with some standard automotive grease. The stops are located next to the inside of the front tires and are simply points which impinge on each other when the wheel is turned to full turn radius. The whole process took less than 20 minutes.
