2013 4Runner SR5 - Black/Black - 3rd row

The Beginning
After a trip to Pismo with my FJ Cruiser friends I felt in love with a black 4runner I saw at 2012 Surf and Turf, Pismo CA. I knew this had to be my next car. After researching and help of my buddies, I felt this was the right car to replace my 2001 Ford Escape with 216,000 miles.

I'm only a few weeks into owning this thing and am absolutely obsessed with it. This is my build thread to document all the mods on the "The Tumbler". I am a huge Batman geek so I felt it was the right name for it.

The Mods
"The Tumbler" is my 2nd 4x4. I read the forums every day researching mods and various builds. The mods started quickly and will continue... suspension, armor, tires, interior, recovery gear. I want an all around capable rig... and something I can use as a daily driver.

The Result
So far it has turned out as I had envisioned. Here are the mods i've done from the start.

The FJ




As it currently looks:




Exterior
  • 3M Vinyl Bumper and Side Chromed Strips
  • Black Trail Teams door handles
  • Plasti Dipped Back "4Runner" Chromed Strip
  • 3M Tint - 35% all the way around
  • Grille Craft Grille w/TOYOTA emblem (Satoshi Mod)
  • WeatherTech Window Visors
  • TRD License Plate Frame

Interior
  • Pioneer AVH-200EX
  • Scosche Dash Kit (Plasti Dipped Black)
  • WeatherTech Floor Liners

Suspension
  • KING Performance series Front Kit w/Compression Adjusters
  • KING Performance Series Rear kit w/Compression Adjusters
  • ToyTec "Superflex" rear Coils
  • Total Chaos Upper Control Arms

Wheels and Tire
  • TOYO Open Country M/T LT295/70/17

Sweet! That's the perfect height/stance, IMO.

Did you have the suspension done at a Toyota dealership? The dealership where I bought my Trail stocks King suspension. I've been thinking about it.

Nope my buddies and I did it ourselves "MOD NIGHT", Great way to hang out!!! :vader:
 
What made you get rid of the FJ? I am guessing Kids, since you got the 3rd row.

When you plasti-dipped the rear "4runner" trim/logo/handle, did you leave it on, or remove it?

I never stated I got rid of the FJ...:rockon: The FJ is now my wife's daily driver!!!! Left it on, will post pictures soon
 
SATOSHI GRILL MOD

After waiting for weeks on this product I finally got it and with a FREE Tshirt for the wait...:dance:











 
Are those FJ door handles? I thought I read about some FJ guys swapping on Tundra handles....I did not realize these things were interchangeable. Would you mind revealing where you got them from?

[MENTION=84527]FatTiresRollin[/MENTION] No they are the 4Runner Trail Teams Door Handles, The FJ Handles are a bit Bigger. We thought the same when we saw them! I got them from my local dealership.
