GTA Stereo AUX adapter...

I just ordered one of these and i was wondering if anyone had any experience with this kit.. Toyota 4Runner 2003-2009 - AUX, iPhone, iPod and MP3 adapter

or... what would you have recommended? I have the JBL with RDS head unit..

Also, i have the RSES, except i cannot get it to power on. what is the issue there? i checked the fuses and replaced the battery in the remote. Do i NEED the headphones in order for it to power on? Could the overhead unit be bad?

any ideas?

I have used this kit. I mounted the module underneath the steering column. It did NOT work well with my newer iphone, but the kit was installed in 05. the aux cable worked fine, the charging cable sometimes took constant fumbling between cd numbers to get it right. It would try to take over the phone and play through the radio, but often not work. If you just want an aux cable, it should be fine. I don't know if they updated the software.

I replaced my head unit and used a wiring harness to retain the factory amp. the harness was like $60 and the radio was about 120, but I am very satisfied with the sound and the integrated bluetooth.
 
Awesome! Thanks.. you were able to maintain the factory sub with your aftermarket head unit?

I have the galaxy s3 and the portable Sirius tuner, so I'd just be using the aux in put so I can use both.

I have something similar on my Jetta, I just use the aux input as well. I'm not too keen on putting in a high dollar h.u. ... too much of a risk for my liking.
 
I can't see the photos you posted above?

The harness has 4 RCA outputs, so make sure you get a radio compatible with this, otherwise you'll need a line output converter.

And yes, the factory sub is retained

Now for the record... I had a 2006 Jeep Wrangler, I was rear ended and it was totaled. I replaced that with this 2004 4runner V8 sport. I do miss my Jeep.. so, I'm not all about audio.. but I can actually hear the radio in this so I'd like to tweak it without spending too much doing so. Or I might just like the aux adapter and call it a day. Lol

My rig is an '03 limited with the JBL. I am MUCH happier with the new HU as opposed to the aux cable - Make sure you also get a HU that's sirius ready if you want to keep the sirius.
The new HU gets way louder and the sound is much better.

Metra TYTO-01 (60 on amazon, don't pay a cent more, the local best buy charged like 110)
Metra steering wheel controls (40 on amazon)

My stupid HU didn't have 4 RCA ports so I had to use a line output converter to get rear audio. Spend a bit extra on the HU for the RCA ports...

I really didn't want a double DIN because I wanted the storage pocket.

Also, that's a sirius stiletto thing on the side.

Also, since the amp is digital,. you have to equalize all the control with the factory stereo before removing it... i learned this the hard way lol
