Gun mounts

Has anyone mounted a pistol or long gun in their truck? I'm getting tired of my rifles and shotguns laying across the back seat so I'm looking for ideas.

Got my new Sig P250 a few weeks ago and would like to mount that too.

I live in washington and have done law research, so no worries there. Pistol can be loaded with a permit. Long guns can't.

I have a couple ideas as far as the sig: right side of the console or down by the shifters on the left side, by your legs.

I'm pretty lost on the long guns though... I suppose roof mounted would be about the only option. Anyone know of a manufacturer that makes something that would work?

I’ve always wanted to mount a gatling gun in the back, like the one Clint used in Outlaw Josey Wales. Imagine the look on a tailgater when you power down the back window.
 
I would love to hear anybodies idea's on this as well. I need a place for a full size handgun, and a scout size rifle.
 
i mounted my rifle on the side of the rear cargo pointing up, i used two small d rings on each side of the gun, put the gun in between the d rings and used a locking clamp to hook the two d rings together for quick release purpose. you can mount about 4-5 rifles on just one side of the truck.

for hand gun since its illegal in California to put hand gun you can reach, i found a loop hole where you put your gun in the passenger seat back pocket, easy to reach and when cops ask you just say thats the rear portion of the truck and you can't reach it(act like your arm is too short)

i am planning on getting a holster and drilling it into the driver side shifter panel area. i just havnt decided on what type of holster would be best. i have thought about the thumb release type. hmmmm

yeah exactly like that but i would probably put it a little bit more twards the seat. but i think that was his only option. i like that holster too...
 
yeah i really need something. i have a .22 for shooting armidillos around here in sc and took it out of the back today and the scope had been knocked forward and inch and off teh gun. didnt have any tools so i tried to scoot it back and it came off completely. not good,
 
That's the best spot IMO. Keeps it out of sight and relatively easy to get to. Think the console is big enough in a 4r?
 
Big Sky Racks make great racks for ceiling mount, but I'm thinking the 4runner ceiling might be a bit low for that. I'm mounted many a bladetech kydex holster to hard, flat surfaces on vehicles. Bending a steel mount or riser for them isn't hard, either. The hard part is finding a spot that keeps them out of the way, relatively concealed, but handy.

I think something like this (disregard what gun its for, just the holster is what I want to show) NEW UNCLE MIKES KYDEX LH HIP BELT HOLSTER WALTHER P99 | eBay would work right there. The left handed model would fit better in this case and you could bolt it to the driver side shifter panel area you are talking about. I think something without another retention device, such as the thumb drive or SERPA would be better IMO. Just a snug fit is all I would want.

... and then I noticed you live in AZ and it makes sense. In CA you can't drive around with a handgun in the front cabin unless it is in a lockbox.

IMO,

Carrying a gun in plain sight in the front cabin is a really bad idea. If you get pulled over the cop will likely go apesh$t once he notices it.

Most cops don't F around and you risk getting shot. You also risk having some random civilian notice it and call the cops. Who knows what they will tell the cops and then when the cops show up they might be expecting the worst.
 
cops here in tucson are expecting you to have a firearm. and as long as my hands are on the steering wheel when they approach my window there should be no problems. i also have a sticker on the small bottom left side of my back window that basically says "im armed" thus no surprises.

I really like this mount.. Too bad ours dont have a bigger console like that. I dont think my 1911 would fit in there with all the crap I have on it, but it would be super intimidating for me to pull it on someone... lol..

For the long guns I was going to put them in the back in the cargo box I am going to build with a lock on the box. So I can put ammo and guns in seperate boxes and carry them legally. Cabelas makes a seat cover that holds your rifles too i believe.

ooooo speaking of seat covers.. you could get the smitty built seat covers and then get a holster with a molly adapter and put it on the back of the passenger seat..... niiiicceeee... except if you have kids.

oh man I have a bunch of ideas on where to put them.. i might have to experiment now.
 
yeah the seat cover option is a no go for me. girlfriend has a 2 year old.

i am going to be putting it on the driver side well that i did in my first post, not in the console. i am just going to steal the holster/spacer idea. i feel that if i put it in the center console it defeats the purpose of it being there. by then time you take your arm off the console, open it, and draw you have wasted ~10 seconds. and those 10 seconds could be a life changing moment.
 
Wet Okole seat covers have an option for a handgun pocket on the front of the driver and/or passenger seat, pretty slick I think, good for the wallet or phone if not carrying a gun...
