Anyone consider replacing 4Runner with a Lexus GX 460, or have any experience with this vehicle ?
Got rid of my 2000 Tundra about a year and a half ago after fifteen years of loyal service. This was of course the first gen Tundra with the original iteration of the 4.7 V8 and four speed automatic. Had a custom stainless exhaust and a TRD drop-in air filter, actually ran pretty freaking good. Could smoke 5.4 F-150's & 5.3 Silverado's all day long.
For the most part, like the 4Runner a lot and how it's equipped. The motor is ok and actually runs pretty good . The only thing I really miss from the Tundra is the V8. Have been looking around a bit at slightly used low mile GX 460's. Don't really like the '14 and newer design with that hideous front end, so looking at '13's . Still has the newest gen 4.6 V8 with six speed auto.
Just researching and looking around for now, will probably hold off till some information on the 6th gen Runner comes out. Even if equipped with the Tacoma 3.5, hopefully will have a power increase and-or a seven or eight speed automatic. Heck our 4.0's with a updated transmission would make a world of difference.
