H4 can be used full time?

I was reading my manual last night, it said that H4 can be for normal driving conditions on dry paved roads.

I read it at least 6 times but I still have to ask all of you if that's correct.

I have the V6 with the H2, H4, L4 selections.

This is correct. The v8 and v6 4x4 systems both have a center differential that allows full time 4x4. The difference is that the v6 also has a 2wd mode whereas the v8 is only fulltime. You will use more gas in 4H.

Very cool! Thank you. This truck never stops amazing me. I read up on the VSC, ATRAC, AUTO LSD last night too. Very impressive. Though the literature in the manual was very confusing when it tried to explain the AUTO LSD and VSC. Seems like the translation to English wasn't too good.

I'm not sure the difference is big. I drove my T4R in both modes over long distances and found only 0.2 MPG difference. I think other factors have more influence on your gas mileage.

You are probably right. But you did prove me right too. :D

The best way to experience the various systems is to test them. I read the manual too and found it somewhat confusing also. Getting out there and locking the center diff and switching to 4lo and seeing what each button really does in the real world is the only way to really know what to use and when to use it.

Dont forget to use the 4x4 one a month

The manual also says to use the 4x4 one a month for at least 10 miles. Thats if you dont use it that often.
