Had my CV axles replaced, now the VSC TRAC, VSC OFF & ABS lights are on...

I just replaced a buddy's GX470 last weekend. Possibility the Mechanic damaged the ABS sensor wire.???

How would I reset it???? Just unhook the battery for 15 minutes???

Sounds like it may be a damaged abs wire to me. You can try a zero point calibration and see if that helps, most likely one of the wires though.

Did you have to pull any of your brakes apart? My guy claimed they were a total PITA to change. He had a rough time getting them out and getting the new ones in. All the posts I saw said there were only three bolts that had to be removed...
I wonder if my mileage had anything to do with it?

I'm about to do my shafts and from the looks, you've got to remove the rotor and hub to pull the shaft, but the caliper will just pivot out of the way.
But everything I've read also says to be cautious with the ABS sensor... All signs are pointing to this man. Take it back to that shop that effed it up and have them fix it.

^LOL....Broken ABS wire forsure. I accidently did that to mine when installing my spacer lift. And unless he really f'ed it up theres no way to visually tell if its broken. You have to use a code reader to find out which side is at fault (maybe both) and then do a continuity check with a multimeter.
Also, I had to remove one of my CV axles to replace a boot. With the help of a buddy, it wasn't that hard and its the first time either of us had done one on a t4r AND my odometer was pushing 120k miles so I think all in all, the mechanic working on your rig was a douche.

I followed the same instruction's, I felt worst part was getting the sway bar links off with out messing them up. Which I did end up having to get new ones.

Most likely a broken ABS wire, have an autoparts store or the technician pull the codes and let us know what's up.

agreed. The sensor wires in these things are tiny tiny the casing makes them look big but there super tiny wires. easily stretched and broken inside the casing. There like that due to the nature of what they do to work. In 03 this was the worlds first wheel speed sensor that can determine not only the speed of the wheel but also the direction in which its turning.
I stretched one installing my lift kit on the front passanger side when i droped the lower controll arm connection it just pull the **** out of the wire. Had a tech at toyota hook me up an tell me which wire it was. I got back to the house with it and just heavily inspected the wire looked for the most likly area the stretch occured and just started striping the casing. I found the break and used a crimp connector to patch the wire. I will say that my braking is a little off balance now like extremely small of balance you can barely tell. but evifently if you change the resistance in the wheel speed sensor wire it can through the ABS system off just a hair.
Not sure what proceedures all you guys are using to change out cv's but i found all ive had to do is
1.) remove wheel
2.) remove hub cover
3.) unbolt CV from hub
4.) unbolt the two bolts on the bottom of the lower control arm left and right of the lower spindal ball joint
5.) swing out spindal and upper control arm assembly (use a little force)
6.) reach in and yank out inner boot from drive axle houseing (be aware of axle seals they can be damaged durring this.
7.) pull cv axel out of hub
8.) laugh at funny noises it makes because of wear
9.) rebuild/replace
I highly recomend removing ABS sensors and disconnect wires whenever servicing anything about your hub I've priced the sensors alone and found there over 250 a piece and the wires are like 80 bucks a wheel. alot of money to be saved by uncrewing one alan headed bolt and disconnecting a wire connector.
Once the ABS wire is fixed the ABS light will go off. however your trac and vsc lights may stay on because your zero points have been erased or changed some way or another you can have the dealer reset them, buy a scanner and do it yourself. or using doorbell wire (cause its solid and small like a terminal pin in a connector) You can use the door bell wire to make a series of short connections in terminal pin numbers 7 & 14 on your obdII connector under your dash. theres a toyota service tech proceedure with instructions listed online somewhere googles pretty good at finding it.
