Has anyone found a way to lift my T4R 4"-6"?

This is really getting to me personally! I would like to have this low visually sitting SUV/Truck lifted up to some reasonable "Real Man's" height. I am strongly considering trading my T4R because of the hassle/expense of getting aftermarket lift/suspension parts versus American counterparts.

If I can not achieve a reasonable lift height with this vehicle; then I will probably wait for the new redesigned Seqouia to be released next year! The T4R is just to squished and uncomfy for me to deal with in the long term. If and only "IF" I could lift my T4R up 4"-6" will I keep this ride. I just took a 5500 mile trip and the driver's seat in the Runner is the most uncomfortable, gosh darn thing in the world. It started to feel like I was seating on a piece of concrete. Another gripe from my trip was the leg spacing......with the center console extending all the way to the firewall; it is almost impossible to keep your legs comfy after about 700 miles. I am only 5' 9"--165 lbs and this thing seemed as if it was slowly closing in on me...mile after mile.

Does anyone have any information about the 06 or better yet the new generation 07 Toyota Seqouia?

You can bet the new Sequoia won't be 4-6 inches higher than the new Runner. Toyota Corp. as a whole is lowering the front ends of their SUVs to limit the amount of litigation caused by pedestrians being hit by 'big' SUVs.

How will raising the suspension in anything help your sitting position?
 
i say sell your 4runner so someone else can appreciate it more and go get one of those gay ass lifted chevy or fords and so you can cruise around and look like everybody else and know fair well that your truck has no off road capabilities and is unoriginal like everybody else even though you think otherwise!!!

and your bitchin about leg room and you swear a 6 inch lift will help? that makes no freaking sense!!!!

Dude, I am 6' 1" and 205 lbs, I fit just fine. If you are driving that far, get out of the 4R and stretch every few hundred miles. And like a lift is that expensive..... Isnt cornfeds lift under 400 bucks?

Go trade it in on a big ass 8mpg Fake ass Hemi Dodge Ram. Thats a REAL MANS truck! Or how about taking advantage of the "employee discount" at GM/Chevy dealers? Or you could get a played out Escalade or Avalance like all the "balla's" on MTV.
 
SInce you only want to lift it for appearance, you can do the following:

- COrnfed lift 3" suspension
- 4crawler (Roger Brown) body lift ( I think he goes to 2" on the 4th Gen)
- 33" tires (1" or more higher than stock)

This will be the cheapest and best way for you by the sounds of it. And you are 3+2+1= 6" higher than you were before. Handling and gas mileage will suffer, also off camber offraod will be more tippy.

by the sound of it a guy who wants his 4runner to look like a chevy type lift will never ever off road in it

It's obvious why he wants to lift a 4Runner so much...

He's from Southern California!

He'll never take it offroad and doesn't care about onroad handling either for that matter.

What he wants is something that LOOKS "Kool". It's all about appearance in Southern Cali... true substance comes in a distant second.

So what if it will drive like crap...
So what if he'll have to take corners at less than 3 miles an hour or risk tipping over...
So what if it will lose many of the features most people like the 4Runner for...

It will LOOK "KOOL" :bash:

Well if he does what I suggested it wont be that bad at all. Lots of members here have 3" lift with 33" tires. He only needs to add a body lift (which some members have done as well). This combo has been used a lot offroad in various forms, but basically the same. I would however recommend an OME suspension rather than spacers if he adds the bodylift.
 
Josh.....read the whole message b4 unleashing your response. I complained about the leg room after a long trip. I am thinking of moving up to the Seqouia for more leg room. I should have stated that I do not like Toyota's seat flat on the floor design. I prefer the more truck seat feeling.

As for the lifting........"YEP"---I would kinda like my 30k offroad vehicle to sit a bit higher. My gripe is that there are very LIMITED aftermarket products for the 4Runner. I was/am hoping the Tacoma will produce more aftermarket suspensions.

The comments about me not offroading probably applies to 85% or more of the SUV owners. I wanted the security of all-wheel drive with the confidence of an occasional offroad adventure.

P.S. I like to ride HIGH on the road.

To add my "weight" behind the discussion, I'd like 4-6" more lift than stock (currently at 2.5 with Daystars).

Besides looks, I don't like it when big lift Jeeps go past you on the trail because your moving rocks around :bash:

I'd also agree that 85% PLUS Runners on this board don't run offroad so they wouldn't really know the limitations of off-roading in the 4Runner. That said, with a 3" lift and good tires and sliders you can get a long way offroad.

I'd also agree with the seating issues. I think the 4Runners seats suck after 2hrs in the seat. Even when you take a stretch break, you still end up in a fairly confined space.

As far as individual taste is concerned..each to their own. Some people put K&N filters on their trucks (ROTFLOL), some put carbon fiber parts on the inside (More ROTFLOL), some even put tow shackles on the rear of their 2WD and don't offroad at all (extreme ROTFLOL) so the idea of lifting a truck for looks and the occasional offroad adventure is not so deplorable after all.

I've been waiting forever for an outfit that can lift my Gen4 XREAS. It appears that Nitrous Enterprises does this for a reasonable price at whatever height you want. Anyone tried them?

I haven't been here in awhile and am interested in knowing if anyone has tried any of the other new mods for Gen4s. Cat-back (Borla, Magnaflow), headers, intakes, chips, "cow-catchers", etc.

I bought my Toy to use both in town and in the desert. I need 3-4" of lift for bigger and better tires. Totally disinterested in trick headlights, taillights, big wheels, honker audio systems, etc.

I'm real happy with the performance of the 4.7 but Momma always said you can't have enough torque!

With XREAS it is best to use spacers if you want to keep it or you can remove it completely.

Spacer companies:
- COrnfed (contact Burtmanindustries they distribute)
- Daystar (see wheeler's offroad)
- Revtek )See wheeler's as well)


If you rip out the Daystar there are many more options, but all more expensive than above. From $700 to thousands of dollars.
 
I'll look into COrnfed but am still confused by Revtek and Daystar. Both state that they are explicitly not for XREAS equipped vehicles. I've been in contact with Revtek over the past few years pinging on them about a kit but so far no joy.

I read a lot of the posts/opines on the NE system. I wonder if turning my own shock relocaters out of a better grade of steel would be acceptable or if, at 3", the "shock-bend" issue would still be a problem. Hell, I'd be willing to pay the money if there were a reliable lift system out there for XREAS.

P.S. As far as XREAS goes, I think my '92 Explorer turned flatter with beefier sway bars than the Toy does w/XREAS.
