Hatch Wires Cracked Causing "Door Open" Issue

Hey guys, I've been trying to chase the "door open" light staying on for some time and I think I found the issue. Trying to see which door sensor is broken, I found that all 4 sensors are ok so I went to the hatch to check the wiring and sure enough the wires are cracked. Reading through this further I did find that it's a common issue and the only fix is to re-wire the cables.

Right now I just want to fix the wire that will sense the back hatch closed. Anyone know which wire operates the "door open" to sense that it's closed? I need to program my new key fob and can't do it when the doors are not closing. Any response is appreciated. Thanks.

I had to do my rear doors since the previous owner chopped the wiring harness to both if them :wow:
had to trim and solder each pair of wire ends and wrap with electrical tape.
you should be able to part the wires slightly and slip some electrical tape through and isolate the wires so whichever one is the problem isn't grounding any more.
looks like several have cracked insulation from the pic

Thanks for the reply. I have decided that replacing all the cracked ones with fresh new wire will be the smartest option. Good thing I learned how to solder wire recently
