Hey guys, im new to the forum. I was hoping that I could find a 4runner forum on the net...and WOW! This is waaaay bigger and better than I though I would find. There is a wealth of knowledge here.

Let me start off by asking a few questions:

1. I have stock springs, shocks, ect... I want a 2 inch lift; How could I go about doing this fairly cheap?

2. I got it with 84,000 miles (from my grandparents so it's in mint condition:) and now it has 111,600 miles. I don' t think that they had any certain mileage service done on it. (ie. 75,000 mile service)What type of service should I get done?

3. Sometimes when I stop fast(at a red light or whatever); when I go to start to take off again it feels like the tranny takes a milli-second to engage BTW: it's an automatic tranny. What could it be?

I really want to do some cool things to this truck, mainly right now the lift. I just bought some new Bridgestone Duelers...and love them. But it would look way better with a lift.

Also, I would like to get a new hood with the scoop, and the newer bumper. I think the newer models (1999-00) have this stock.

well i can help you out on a couple of things. firs of all for the service, make sure that the timing belt has been replaced, as it should be every 90 thousand or so. second, for the hood with the scoop, they came on sport edition models, and i think they also came on earlier Highlander models too (99-00) and for 01-02 they were changed to sport editions

I also have a '97 Ltd with the same tranny issue. It doesn't do it all the time but it feels like there is some lag or slippage/movement. Curious to hear some opinions.

Thanks for the replys.

Yes! Thats it. Then again I was thinking; it may not be the tranny. When I let off the break it fells more like the back of the vehicle drops 2 or so inches, then the vehicle takes off.

The cheapest way to lift it would be spacers for example, Cornfed or Revtek Just remember you get what you pay for.

Yeah...I figure that lil bump when acellerating *hung over spelling* is just due to the fact my 4 would rather be on a trail than stopping at lights in the city :P

I have noticed a similar issue with my 99 runner ltd, when starting but it seems to me to just simply be the brakes being locked and lagging for a second.

my 2004 Tundra does this sometime when i brake hard. its like it is in the wrong gear and need to take a second to shift down.

wgr73 as for the lift i went with ToyTecLift on my 4runner. Cost was around $300 shipped. i like it, but i should have changed out the shock when i did it. Now i am buying KYB shocks and installing it. My shocks are going bad at 60k.

For the service i would get it caught up. the whole she-bang of what you know that hasnt been done.

When you take off you are probably feeling the driveshaft binding. Grease up the u-joints and u should feel it go away.
