Headed to Moab for first time!!! HELP

Hey guys, I've been doing some reading and research on moab trails. Im heading out there in about 3 weeks for a few days during my spring break with my dad to do some exploring. We are thinking of spending 2 or 3 days out there.
The questions/concerns:
Want to do some wheeling out there, we may rent a rubicon one day so we can do some hard trails. But other than that we can either take my dads stock 06 4runner or my 2001 f350. So I want to be able to do some easier trails with the vehicle we drive out. Do you guys think 4runner or 350? The 4runner is totally stock and my 350 has about 4" lift with 35 extreme AT's. I will probably have better angles with the 350 but Im wondering if the wheelbase will kill me.
The trails I have seen many people suggest so far are: fins and things, hells revenge, and 7 mile rim. I really have no idea so all suggestions and criticisms are welcome.
Also any recommendations if we rent a rubicon to wheel around in for a day?
We are thinking about tent camping or staying at archview campground in a small cabin.

T4R obviously. Shorter wheelbase will help, and an 06 stock 4Runner will easily conquer an F-350 at off-roading unless the F-3 has had many thousands spent on modifications, tires, etc.

yea it figured, the only thing Im worried about with with the runner is the low clearance and approach/departure angles.

Regarding "fins and things, and hells revenge," I am pretty sure that you will not make it in a f350 or the 4runner. I went in the park, and decided....not such a good idea with my stock 4th gen. There are literally hundreds of trails in the area, so ask a guide in Moab and they will have plenty of suggestions. Good luck; it's the best playground on the planet.

I've gone wheeling a lot in Moab, though never in a 4Runner -- only in Jeeps of varying lifts/modifications.

Moab trails are very friendly to fullsize rigs. There aren't many trees. Long wheelbase and wide track are good. The place where pickups have problems is if they are stiffly sprung (like an F350, for example) and they don't have much suspension flex: they lift a tire far too easily and lose traction. Lockers, however, take care of that problem.

Stock 4Runner vs. lifted F350: I'd take the F350. Have fun!

Thanks man, you are the first one to suggest my truck. The rear end is open, I wish it was locked.
The other thing Im considering now is putting a small lift on the 4runner instead of spending money on jeep rental for a day.

I'd agree, I wouldnt take the stock 4runner on fins and things or hell's revenge. My friend took his stock 99 runner on both those and came out with some damage and the 3rd gens have more ground clearance stock.

I know you can run fin's and things with this lift on the 4runner:

ok thanks for the help, I actually ordered toytech lift kit today.
Im keeping stock tires on the runner for now, so do you think it will still be enough clearance?
I'll check out RM4x4, hopefully we can do some wheeling sometime!!

Well decided not to rent a Jeep and get my dad to spend some money on a lift for the 4runner instead of rental. :cheers:
So we will be running the 4runner and testing it out.
Will have 3" lift but keeping stock tires until they wear out and replace with some bigger ones.

Since we are wheeling the runner I need to get some supplies together.
Any ideas?
