I didn't want to jump back a fourth between threads so I figured I'd start my own with the mods that I add to the truck. I just got done swapping out the reverse lights. I was just going to put in the extra T10 LEDs in there, but decided against it after being referred by Dekeman to this thread.

I purchased these at Lowes for about $5 a piece.

I put in one of the T10 LEDs on the right for comparison. The LED definitely looks better, but not as bright as the halogen.
Until they come out with a better LEDs, I'll keep the halogens in. There was a long discussion on whether to put 35w or 55w bulb on the Tacoma forum. One of the members had bubbling in the housing due to the heat of the 55w bulb, but that was from prolonged drive in reverse. I didn't want to go take any chances and bought the 35w.

The first thing that I did to the truck was the LED swap. Here is where I purchased them.

Thanks for the comparison! I was thinking about trying the LED lights too but based on what [MENTION=48776]dekeman[/MENTION] wrote up and this, it just doesn't make sense. The 35w bulbs looks like a good choice.

No problem. Just trying to contribute to the forum. This mod was easier than installing the LEDs.

I agree. I also installed some LEDs I had laying around from another vehicle. IIRC, they are the brightest LEDs with the correct base that superbrightleds.com sold at the time. Looking directly at them, they do look good but the useable light is not very good. I believe the design of the housing also hampers a how good they work. At least it isn't as bad as the F150s, those are terrible. I may have to try your mod. Good reverse lights, especially offroad, can really help.

I just checked the ones I bought — they were the 35 watt. Sorry for any confusion. I had intended to go 50 or 55 but didn't want any heat issues.
Haven't had any issues with the 35, other than tons of light.

One of the guys in the reviews compared it to a 10W halogen bulb. So it won't be as bright as the 35W halogen.

Finally got the headlights upgraded to the Morimoto XB 35W Elite HIDs. Way better than the stock lights.
