headlight problem

i got a weird problem i put 4 headlight bulbs in my truck in the last 3 days...later to find out i have water in the assembly...(due to the storms were having up here on LI) is a bad gasket or what? if so should i just buy a new assembly or can i take it apart to get all of it out?

Your best best is to wait for a dry(er) day, and use a hair dryer to remove the moisture from the headlamp unit. I don't think you have a gasket problem, but, perhaps its the bulb housing that may be leting in the moisture. Try using the OEM bulbs on one side, and see if the problem persists.

What bulbs are you using anyways?

Use a garden hose on the lens. See where it is leaking from. If it is a plastic to plastic seam then use a flexible RTV or silicone rubber compound on it. Any color will do as you only need a very small bead. The clear rtv seams to be ridge but I have used both to seal lenses.

Make sure you don't touch the bulbs with bare fingers. The oils from your skin will overheat the glass and the bulb will go KAPUT. There should be a vent hole at the bottom somewhere to allow the moisture to evaporate. No hole the moisture will take forever to dissipate.
