Headlight Problems

I bought a 2005 T4R and the only problem it had was the headlights being hazy. I bought a set off of EBAY and now I am having problems. After the first install the drivers side fogged up pretty bad, so they sent me a new one. Now the passenger and the drivers side are both fogging up. I had this problem with the OEM headlights originally which is why I replaced them.

Do I have a loose connection where the light goes into the housing?

Anyone ever just ran a bead of silicone around the housing to fix this problem?

These are a PITA to keep removing and installing these things....

Your original lights being hazy is normal I suppose (age). Replacing them with fleabay ones? Were they used? Aftermarket? I purchased aftermarket headlights a while back and at the first car wash, they fogged up big time. I didn't care b/c they were installed temporarily. Anyway, the leak was from a poor seal at the bottom of the lens. Contact the vender.

In this pic, at first lots of condensation,then fog. Eventually they cleared up.

If you want 0 hassle: BE SURE to get oem/new ones to prevent future hassles. Yes, I know, they are expensive ($180 each), but getting aftermarket OEM-like headlights is always a gamble.

Yes, they are aftermarket brand new. I did not want to pay 320 for new headlights so thats why i did the ebay route. Now I am too far in to get out. I checked the sellers feedback and everyone raved about the quality of the lights. Maybe it is because they hadn't been in a carwash yet...lol...

Mine looks exactly like your picture. I am going to have to take them off and find the leak and seal it..

Before you do that, talk to the seller, maybe (should) take them back and send you another one. If not, to seal it, best to throw them in the oven (loosening the seal between the headlight and clear plastic), separate them, put butyl sealer (do a search, many have done them for their retrofit HIDs) to replace the original seal, throw them back into the oven and viola!

Anyway, good luck whatever you choose to do.

Yeah, I spoke with the seller. He sent me a new headlight already to replace the first leaky one. Uninstalled, installed and same problem. I do not want to deal with them anymore, and definitely if i uninstall one more time I want to make sure I don't have to do it again. I think I may have to try the oven technique and see what happens.

whenever i bought new eBay lights i always ALWAYS put an extra bead of silicone around the seals. You can never put too much on.

Do you think if i get rid of the haze and just do a silicone seal it will solve my problem? I think that would be the easiest route. I am just not comfortable putting the lights in the oven for some reason.

id think it would help for sure. Do a nice thick bead all around it and look for open spots.

There are some good aftermarket brands and some bad ones. It may help to contact a local trusted body shop as they use aftermarket parts, usually top notch. I bought my headlights aftermarket as well, and the only time they ever fogged up was when I power-washed the engine bay thoroughly. They cleared up within the hour and it never happened again after numerous car washes and rain storms.

My driver side one is all fogged up right now. It clears up when I let the lgihts run for a while.. Silicone and check that all the bulbs are in place fully.

My ome factory headlamp is getting condensation in now. Guess its time to black them out and reseal them up with new silicone.
