Headlights wont turn on.

If I were you I would disconnect the HID system and plug the regular bulbs in. I have HIDs and they went out and this is how I checked to see if that was the problem.Mine were flickering and sh_t, the regular bulbs worked so I called the company and they sent me new ballasts and fixed the problem.

Good luck

i have been wound a bit tight lately with some vadalisim on the 4runner as well as family in town and havent been my self lately.

as far as the factory wiring i have checked it this morning again and the wiring is fine. i had a h4 bulb sitting aroung and decided to plug it in and fire up the light to make sure it would operate. and it did high and low. so there is no issue with the wiring harness. i checked the ballasts again this morning and the worked for about 5-6 seconds then shut off. looks to be a valid ballast problem. i have a new harness on the way as well as new ballasts for the headlights. i will keep you guys updated on the outcome. i have had these hella Gen 3 Ballasts for well over 10 years.

Good you are getting your head screwed on right! I'd do mine, but I can't find the bolts!

:lookout:

I dont know if you thought about what I sugested before I sugested it, but if something seems to be bad and you have the option to swap in a good part easily to check it I would always do that. That is easy trouble shooting. Im in the navy and they teach to cycle power, unplug then replug then swap parts, then break out the multi meter.

i didnt suspect the ballast in the first place as when i directly powered the ballast with the battery the fired up. however the ballast at over 10 years old. almost 12 to be exact as that is how long i have had them. the are finally at the end of there life cycle. i have ordered new ballasts and getting a new harness on warranty

New Denso ballasts and harness. I got a idea of what was going on there is a shorting to ground on the power side that is why the fuses keep popping. Not bad for 12 years of use Hella! This is one reason why oem/ original manufacture ballasts rule over cheap stuff.
