Headphones in '04?

I have a 2004 Sport. I got the better stereo with JBL 10 <?> speaker surround sound. It came with a remote control for the back seat (driver -- I think works with a sensor in the top lamp. Anyway, I hear you can get wireless headphones. I was hoping that perhaps the system was fancy enough to allow the headphone user to listen to, say the radio, while the CD player could be piped into the speakers. So, people can listen to different things. However the serviceman at the dealer tells me the headphones just cut out the speakers. True?

You should be able to listen to something totally different on the headphones then on the radio up front. I have the headphones and all, just never actually tried them. I'll confirm that tonight, unless somebody else writes before I do.

I CAN CONFIRM THAT YOU CAN LISTEN TO A TOTALLY DIFFERNT SOURCE THROUGH THE HEADPHONES, YOU CAN HAVE THE RADIO COMING OUT OF THE SPEAKERS AND LISTEN TO A CD OR TAPE ON THE HEADPHONES AND VICE VERSA, MY DAUGHTER LISTENS TO HER CD'S ALL THE TIME WHILE I LISTEN TO THE XM RADIO (THROUGH THE CASETTE ADAPTER)

The only thing you can't do is listen to something different on the same source (ie. two different CDs)

Ok, my window sticker did say it was 'wireless headphone compatible' so I only got the remote. I did read the 'cryptic' manual last night. Sounds like you all are right -- we can listen to something different. It also appears (or the manual implies) that the the rear seat audio can be separated from the front using the remote. I assume then that this refers to the speakers. I'll have to try this but wonder how it could work. (I didn't notice a volume control on the remote for the rear speakers.) Maybe I read that wrong.

The rear seat audio only controls the wireless headphones. If you don't have the headphones it does nothing.
