Heater Control Issues

Anyone have / Had or heard of these issues?

I searched and found some commons issues but no answers.

Here is the issue -

Cold morning, put the heat on 70, the cabin warms up as expected, then it starts blowing ambient air, not a issue for a few minutes but then it gets cold. Then i turn the temp up to 72, rinse and repeat until i'm up to 80.

Also, when i turn the defrost on the front windshield it only blows ambient temp air, again it gets cold so i play a game where the windshield fogs up, i turn the defrost on until i get cold, switch back to heat and then the wind shield fogs up again.

Is there a thermostat somewhere that could be dirty?

This my 3rd winter with this 4runner and no issues in the past.

Clogged heater core??

Is your selector set to "auto?" The auto climate control will do seemingly funny things as it tries to keep the cabin set at the temp you select (??), but it sounds like a heater core issue
