You might want to order the clear Hella 500 covers for them. I had mine on for one day and got a small chip in the glass. Since I have had the clear covers on, no problems at all. I even had a scrap piece of tire fly up and hit the light last week and it just scuffed the clear cover. had I not had them on there, the light would have been toast. i ordered mine for autobarn.com

Did you wire them up so they come on with the high beams or are they independent, where they can be turned on at any time?

Momo - Let me know if you still need help on your wiring? The Hella 500s come with a relay and if you want to wire them up so they come on any time, then you just don't use the relay with the wiring. Also one of the connectors on the switch is not plugged into anything. BTW - thanks for the link for the clear stone guard.

Listen to this ****. I went to have my oil changed the other day and after they changed it they ran it throught their car wash. It is usually clean when I take it, but it had been raining so I guess they figured they would be doing me a favor. Anyway, I paid left and was running some errands. When I came out of one store the truck was parked up front and one of the lights was missing. I knew it was not stolen becaus the base was still there. When they took it through their car wash, it ripped the left light off completely. It was smashed byt the time I got back there. I had to order another set and clear covers, so hopefully they will be here this week. I swear I am going to make every effort to get them wire next weekend.........

That blows... Did you give them permission to use the carwash? If not they should be paying!

Wiring is much easier than i thought it would be, if I can do it anyone can! I'm not really mehanically inclined....

oh yeah they are paying for it. i told them that if I had known they were going to run it through the car wash I would have passed because i never run it through them. The manager felt pretty bad about it, so i didn't grill him. He said just bring him the bill and he would cut me a check. It is just a pain having to run back up there.

Did you wire yours without the relay?

slight variation on this great idea

I'm in the middle of getting this project done. Because of my WAAG FrontRunner I have to make slight variations (to lower the lights by about 2 inches) on the original design. Thanks to momo.75 and holzapfel for their work and write up on this project. With the additional pieces on the bracket it was simpler to cut and weld the pieces rather than bend them. Here are the pieces before I cut mounting holes.

because of the shape it makes it more difficult to mount the brackets, we'll see how the project goes...

The idea is to have the lights tucked inside the perimeter of the guard. In case I tap something or something taps me... it will hit the guard first. I looked at the brackets made to attach to the FrontRunner but that left the lights too exposed to possible damage in my opinion.

Here's a pic of my FrontRunner... I plan on using PIAA 540 driving lights. I'll post pics once I'm done.

I got the lights mounted in today. Larger PIAA lights would probably look better but my concern was whether the lights would fit into the "frame" of my FrontRunner and my personal preference is not to have lights that look like basketballs. Either way, I'm happy with the results thus far. Now it's time to hook up the lights... hahaha...

It's a WAAG FrontRunner. The best price I could find was from this place It was $294 and with shipping it was $306 (I think the warehouse is in my city, that's why the shipping was so low)

Do you get vibration on the light's ?? I was thinking about puttin a set of light's behind the lower grill , or cutting the lower grill for light opening.

for my brackets, I haven't had any vibration in the lights. and from what holzapfel tells me, he hasn't had any on his either.

check this thread this guy has a setup similar to what you've described.
