I'm researching and preparing to tackle installing the Hella 500 driving lights on my '97. I have a couple of questions...
-- Is there enough bumper depth to mount the 500s directly to the bumper? I've seen a few pictures but just want to confirm no other modifications are necessary because i don't want to get into a bunch of modding (besides drilling the holes in the bumper).
-- Take a look at this diagram below. I have a couple of questions about the areas I circled in red...
1. What is that white box between the battery and relay that i circled in red? Is that an inline fuse? The Hella 500 kit doesn't seem to come with a fuse so I'm confused about what that is.
2. Question about the 86 wire. The directions seem to indicate tapping into the high beam power lead. I've seen it suggested online that instead of doing this, I could use a "add-a-fuse". If I understand the way the add-a-fuse works, I will replace the high beam fuse with this and then run the 86 wire to the lead out of the add-a-fuse?
3. And lastly, looking at the diagram, am I correct in saying that I do not use the included toggle switch? The 500s should come on when I switch on the high beams and the toggle switch is not necessary? That is fine with me.
