Hello from Georgia

Georgia 4Runner

New member
Just bought our first Toyota...Nothing special, 04 Runner SR5 2wd. It's my wifes, "truck"...I have to admit, I have been a Ford man all my life, but I like driving her little "truck"......I already took the 4runner pig hunting. Even being 2wd, it did execellent in the muddy backroads and wash outs..The wife wasn't pleased, although i did have a nice 120 lbs sow on the hitch rack...Anyway, just wanted to say hi, and I look forward to reading and learning about our new purchase...!

Yep...Pig Hunting, in the literal sense...Deer Season ended on the 15th of Jan, so we have to find something to do until turkey season gets here....:biggrin2:
 
I'm almost scared to admit I live in GA also but I am not a 'pig hunter' although I used that term toward some of my friends in college seeking 1night stands. I am assuming that Georgia 4Runner is making reference to wild boars that are hunted frequently in south Georgia. I think they are also called Ferrel hogs or something like that.

Bro you live in Roswell. That is the exact opposite type of area he is talking about lol (I live in Marietta). :biggrin2:

I can't picture myself hunting any animal personally. Not that there is anything wrong with it.

I'm down in Leesburg, about 30 minutes SW of Cordele....Life is a little slower down in this part of the state...And yes, they are often referred to as feral pigs, or hogs....Anything to keep the kids out from in front of the TV...

Aw, man thats funny. :D

Well, not sure if you meant any offense, I don't think you did. but I can assure you that it takes all kinds to stomp through some of the roughest swamps and lowlands in the southeast to hunt for these things. One of my hunting partners' is worth about 3 mil dollars, and owns a huge "Award" winning quail/deer plantation down here. A few others, like myself are active duty Marines'..And the others are just run of the mill blue and white collar workers..

#1, not sure if you know, but the hog population in the state is flat out of control. They are NOT native to the state and therefore has been deemed a nuisance small game animal by the state DNR. #2, I will take any oportunity to get my kids outside whether to hunt, fish, throw a football, skipping rocks on a pond, etc......#3, Don't knock it till you tried it. You get some of your good friends, load up the trucks and head to the woods, sometimes with dogs or without...I prefer without. But walking through the back creeks and ponds. Maybe finding an arrow head or two....


If you're ever down this way...Get with me, and we'll see if I can't expose you to the great outdoors the lord provided to us...! ;):

Oh come on now. I was born and raised in Southern California and now I live in Georgia. I am the furthest from a 'pig hunter' as you can get pretty much haha!

I can't picture anyone living in Roswell hunting pig. :biggrin2:

My middle daughter was born in Irvine, Ca....She is our SoCal Redneck girl...'bout as country as you can get...


While my oldest was born in Valdosta, Ga, and my son was born in Beaufort, SC.


we kinda spread'em around...lol

Dang LOL! I could see that since you are a Marine. I was born in Inglewood, CA and grew up in Long Beach.
 
Hey - no offense intended. These boards are to have fun not create animosity - I have enough of that with my wife. I'm from Huntsville, AL and went to school at University of Alabama. Nothing offends me except for Auburn 'people'. I even own a handful of guns even though none ahve been shot in about 20+ years. I would love to find a place to go shoot out in the woods. Shooting in a range is about as appealing as watching a football game in a Dome. It just loses it's charm.

Welcome to the forum. Pigs are fun to hunt and eat for that matter. They do lots of damage to trees and repopulate quickly so its important to get rid of them. The wife and I went to college in Americus so I know where you are.

I grew up trained to dislike Auburn. As I got older learned on my own who the real 'bad guys' are I realized there is a group much worse than Barners - the Volunqueers from Tn.
