Hello from WNY

Hello everyone, my name is Jaimy and I'm in Western New York.

I currently drive an '09 Accord Sedan with a 5-speed. It is a great car, but I am ready for something else. I've been looking at vehicles constantly and I keep finding flaws in everything else that direct me back to the 4Runner.

My main needs (probably wants) are:
  • more ground clearance
  • to sit up higher
  • 4WD
  • higher towing capacity
  • higher cargo capacity

The 4Runner fits this all and more. With the winter we've had, I'm ready for an SUV -- and not a glorified breadbox car. Seems as if the 4Runner is the ONLY mid-size, real body on frame, truck like SUV anymore. Sure you have the Tahoe and Suburban, but wow those are in the $50k+ range.

I always equip my vehicles with dedicated winter/snow tires. But with the plowing jobs (or lack of) provided by the county and local municipalities, it has become apparent that the Accord, while doing it's best, is a bit too light and too low. I find myself spinning trying to take off from greasy intersections.

A good friend of mine years back had a '97 4Runner SR5 with the 3.4 V6 and a 5-speed -- he loved it and I believe he's still driving it today. Seems like those who have 4Runners love them and keep them for a while.

I'm hoping to get one this spring. I'm relatively set on a new Trail Premium 4WD in silver.

I'm going to go look around for a while, thanks.
