Bated breath for 1engineer
Just have to share a small amount of useless trivia for the guy (1engineer) who seems to know everything. I mean that in the nicest way 1engineer. I have always liked your write-ups and mods and comments with good knowledge and or experience. I just need to say that many years ago I used the inaccurate phrase of bated breath and was told in fact that the original phrase was abated breath of course the word abated meaning stopped, halted ended etc…. In fact when I was taught this almost useless information the teacher a friend of mine pointed out that bated breath would seem to mean maybe having a worm on my tongue as if to catch something. Anyway sorry to highjack but couldn’t help myself. Thanks Antman now I have to edit and say my mistake was I did not pay attention to the bate as opposed to bait, he is gonna whip me hard I can feel it. Sorry 1engineer.

bated breath - The expression is based on bate, meaning "to moderate, restrain" or "to lessen, diminish"; though bated was once rather common, it is now rare except in this set expression.

There must be a couple of versions of this question floating around. With the version you posted (on vs. in the box), the cat is most definitely alive. The cat would have jumped off the box long ago (especially with all the commotion the responses caused).

Thats a good one! Just think of it this way... in any situation we are simultaneously experiencing every possible outcome. So each one of us has done the most amazing wheeling possible but we have also crashed and burned and everything in between! That should help clear up the multiple universe question!!!! :lookout:
