You should join up with our wheeling club "Off-Camber Crawlers", and hit the trails with us. That way I won't be the only 4Runner making the Jeeps/Range Rovers look bad.

Most manual transmissions do not, however there are a few exceptions.
I'd rather have a reverse lockout, and a transmission that demands a stopped vehicle to enter reverse, than have a reverse synchro that would in theory make it easy to throw it into reverse from fifth.

it grinds because either the clutch isnt fully releasing, or the pilot bearing is hanging up, causing the input shaft to continue spinning.
unless its a recent clutch job, and the pilot bearing was damaged, or not lube, it is likely the clutch not releasing. either the mc, or slave, or incorrect adjustment.
if you push the clutch, and count to 5, will it go in smoothly?
or, start the rig IN first, then shift to reverse, does it click right in, or still some grind?

It did! It's probably just slow at disengaging the clutch. And this might sound weird, but I just put my 1" Body lift on this morning, and afterwards I took it for a spin and I SWEAR every gear 1-5 was shifting like butter. wayyyy smoother than before. How do you explain that?

Got the package from Marlin Crawler, and got to thinking...didn't I hear a creaking sound from the clutch pedal before it stopped working on me?
Thanks to this forum we all know what that means...see attachment. Sorry for the poor photo quality.
Looks like I'll start pulling the clutch/brake pedal bracket out. And see if someone can weld it up for me.
Anyone see a solid walk-through on pulling this beast out?
