Help identifying 5th gen body piece

i was an idiot this weekend and popped out my left rear tail light and cracked the panel that is underneath it, slightly. i am trying to figure out what it is call or what piece to look up to replace it ( the panel). im a total noob at this. can anyone assist?

the panel is the one right underneath the busted tail light.

That's the Rear bumper

If I can identify this correctly, that is an excuse for an aftermarket bumper. You know, to protect your taillight next time.

Rear bumper is one piece I think including those panels.

ok, i did find that part, but the drawing didn't look quite like it, so i thought i was missing a piece.

It's the rear bumper cover.... for a 2010 - 2013 Trail. It is specific to the trail.

FWIW, I had someone hit me in that same area. The bumper cover had to be replaced. My body work guy said that the black plastic does not match well if you go with an aftermarket one. Because of this he was able to get my insurance company to buy an OEM cover. It may be different today, but just something to keep in mind.

See and I just bought a CBI rear bumper after I got rear ended, the black looks great on the truck!

That would be the way to go. GF was not on board at the time. Funny part is that if I had a nice rear bumper all of the damage would have been avoided in the first place. FWIW, rear fender and bumper vs front of Jetta is not a fair fight. Jetta lost big time.
