Help, I'm eating too many baconators - I need a cooler - pics request

Personally I think a fridge would be your best option. You could buy a pack of lunch meat and never have to take it out of the truck. As for coolers, look at AO Coolers I have a 24 Can model that works great. I went wheeling last Saturday, threw a 10 lb bag of ice in it. After the trip I left to cooler in the back of the 4R until Tuesday night after work and there was still a tiny bit of ice in it and the water was ice cold, also didn't leak at all. They hold ice all most as well as a roto molded cooler, but when they are empty they can be squashed down and take up alot less space. The brand Polorbear coolers often runs BOGO deals, but it happens to be about the price of buying 2 AO's
 
My vote is for gatorboxcoolers.com they are owned by a Firefighter and a Marine. I used to work with the owners at the FD, super cool guys and at I will always support them. Just the Same as Yeti and RTIC.
 
We had a customer come into our family's business and he had a YETI. He works in construction and always uses his Tundra 45. He said he saves SO much in the cost of ice that he could buy another Tundra 45 with how much he saves.

I personally have had one for 5 years and love it. My sister took it tailgating and left it in her car for two weeks and it was a lot of water but still had some ice left! I believe in their products!
 
The less you open the cooler, the longer the ice will last. I have a small rtic and a Kysek 35.
The rtic will keep ice for 3-4 days and easily holds a days worth of food/drink for one.
The Kysek holds 2-3 days worth of food/drink and keeps ice forever. I’ve iced down drinks overnight and they were frozen the next morning. I nicknamed it Elsa. Kyseks have very thick walls so, it’s big for its interior size and heavy. If you go much bigger, I think you’ll be giving up too much cargo space.

Kyseks are expensive. Rtics are currently on sale through the website and would be my recommendation.

I agree with this, if you're not going with a fridge (which this sounds like a great application for) then use a smaller cooler and dedicated freezer packs.

How do you like your Yeti latches compared to the Engel? I have an Engel and find the latches much easier to operate. For those that aren't familiar, Engel uses a lever action latch that greatly reduces the amount of force required to latch/unlatch the cooler lid.. I always found the Yeti style to be cumbersome.

Great advice, thank you. My only struggle is that I know I can get a used 45 or 65 for around the same price as the 20, which I may need when the zombie apocalypse comes. Or at least the next hurricane. Common sense vs. having the cool gear I guess. Lol.

Go on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist, I have always seen some deals around the Raleigh area.

I use an Engel 65 - fantastic cooler and cheaper than Yeti. If you have a West Marine store near you, you can check them out there. You have lots of options as mentioned throughout the thread. Even the Waltmart Ozark Trail yeti-style coolers are very good for the price.

I'm involved in the local shooting community here and we generally boycott Yeti due to their Anti-2A stance..
 
I am in lower AL and I I have to buy everything online, a fridge is high on my list for trips and in case we have to get out of town when a hurricane comes. Oh and IO love baconators.

For what it’s worth, they yeti 50s fit great in the back and you can stack two side by side on a hitch haul. Same width as 45 I believe just taller.

I don’t have anything against cool gear!

I just have the Engel fridge/ freezer.


The yeti latches are effortless to remove.... I’ve never really given em any thought. I’ve had my yeti 50 for nearly 6 years I think.
