Help me decide my tires to match the lift

I averaged 19.0 actual mpg before my lift and tires, 17.6 mpg after lift and tires around town. I get about 350 miles to a tank now.

Weight surprisingly isn't much different than 285's.

Absolutely no tire rub on stock TE wheels.

Haven't considered 255-80-17s. I imagine they loose weight by being skinnier . No I am not concerned about mpg that much but I would like to keep what I have.

I forgot to mention. I off-road once every couple months. Might go more when the lift comes in. I'm intrigued to hear that people are running 285s with no loss in performance. You guys must be following that Eco light!

Those are some great numbers. I am set up almost the same as you, and I currently have 15.6 (onboard calc, uncorrected) and will bump up to low 16s HWY. Are those corrected numbers, or how are you getting them?

I really sweated the tire choice because I do use the added clearance and off road ability to get me to the crag for rock climbing, but also spend a lot of time on the road getting to the destination.

After the lift and tires my speedo is dead on verified by GPS so I don't correct. I think it was reading under speed 2-3MPH with stock tires.

The numbers I quoted are calculated off actual mileage (odometer confirmed with GPS) and actual gas. Interestingly my trip computer tends to show about .3 mpg worse than I'm actually getting.

My average around Austin day to day driving was dead on consistent 19 mpg before the lift + or - .2 on any given tank. After the lift and tires I've been right at 17.6 + or - .2 on any given tank. Surprisingly, I get almost exactly the same on the Highway. Probably because it's TX and I go 75+. If I traveled 60 ish I imagine it'd be a bit better. I use Kiwi Gas Manager 1.4 to track fuel consumption on the iphone.

I noticed you have skids and sliders which add some weight. That may hurt you in town a bit. I keep my truck pretty empty to keep weight down, and I drive fast but not aggressively. Minimize braking and unnecessary acceleration Driving style and payload can significantly change fuel consumption.

Thanks for the response, dieck. I also have 3rd row seating, and somewhat of a heavy foot ;)

Per Gas Cubby app: 15.5 mixed; almost all hwy: 16.4

I am also running the 275/70/17 BFG KO2, and they are not hard to find.

Planning Icon Stage II lift soon and wheel spacers.
