Some of the bumps and potholes in NYC are now officially bigger then Rausch Creek...trust me!

$$$ is an issue in that I don't need a high end offroad suspension. Just the look and a decent ride.

Been looking at the Adios build up and that is the LOOK we are going for.

What about roof racks? I know what are the best but will a Thule work for light duty and a place to mount lights?

I know it is a total Poser ride but what Momma wants Momma gets!

Did you read my initial post? Search on those topics, it will answer most, if not all of your concerns (i.e. lift kits, roof racks)..........
 
Thanks for those of you who gave some advice. The build up threads helped alot. Didn't know I was going to draw back a bloody nub by posting here. Thought most would be interested in helping.

I will likely go with a 3/2 level kit, Shrockworks bumper, Thule rack, and some 33s.

Still looking for advice on which Level/lift kit and tires. As I mentioned earlier, I want to maintain factory ride as much as possible.

As you can see, I am willing to spend $$$, i just don't want to spend more that I need to especially on a lift.
 
dont sweat it... they were all noobs at one time and it just makes them feel better about themselves to bash someone. I personally wouldn't recommend 3" of lif in the front without considering aftermarket upper control arms... that isnt to say that it can be run. for a 2wd I would recommend looking at the daystar 2.5/1.5 lift. it will look more aggressive and retain that factory ride. good luck either way.

I'm going to take issue with this. While all want their trucks to look good, I would say that most mod for function first - apologies to 1E. That said, its the OP's money so spend away!

what's that? modifying HIS (or it seems to be his wife's) vehicle to look the way HE wants it to look? I must have missed the rule that says all mods have to relate to function over form? In other words if he wants to lift it what's the big deal? If he doesnt have a million dollars to drop into it... why do you care? this is www.toyota-4runner.org not www.toyota-4x4only-4runner.org I mean how many people here added a stubby antenna becuase it looks better? reception sucks but it looks better... maybe we should round them all up and kick them in the nuts for being so silly.

This is a public internet forum, not a paid consultation for impartial advice on how to modify your truck to reach your end goals. People that want that can go pay someone. To that end, people are going to have opinions and voice them. Especially when folks join and post up topics that read like "please spoon feed me my options on how to modify my truck in ways that have been done and covered on this forum at least a dozen times before".

you contradict yourself.... so in a public forum it is ok to voice your opinion about whether you like said modification but it's not OK to voice your desire for said modification if it doesn't pass muster with the masses? You do know there is FUNCTION to lifting a 2wd vehicle right? aside from aesthetics ground clearance is ground clearance. Now I will agree that he is obviously going for looks over function because he isn't loading it with long travel suspension items.... but if he did.... what would the complaint be from the masses? that rock crawling is > Desert Running? You are aware most f those circuit vehicles are 2wd right? judging by your build you aren't new to the modification game so I would assume you are aware of that but it just isnt your cup of tea

Replacing the plastic front bumper with a 137 lb steel bumper probably will not maintain the factory ride, especially not with a spacer lift. 33s aren't going to keep a factory ride either since a true 33 is going to be an LT tire, not P-rated.

So how exactly did I contradict myself? My point was, you can voice whatever you want on a public forum, but don't get out of shape when someone else does the same thing in response.

I mentioned nothing about function, by the way. Thanks for explaining that lifting a 2wd vehicle provides increased ground clearance, though.

I have narrowed down to Toytec, Daystar, or Bilstien 5100s. Which would be best with the bumper?

You might need to be more specific. I assume you are talking about Toytec and Daystar spacer lifts, and Bilstein 5100 shocks. Specific to carrying the weight of the bumper, Toytec coilovers ould likely work well. They use bilstein 5100's, but will allow you to adjust the ride height to compensate for the extra weight of the bumper. You may be able to accomplish the same thing with just the bilsteins, but I am not sure.

Stifler do me a favor: Get out of this thread and go back to the general 5th gen tab. Look at the bottom where it lists both members online and to the right of that which moderators are online. Tell me what do you see?
