Help needed Transmission Filter Part#

has anyone else had issues narrowing down this part#?

99 sr5 seems to have 2 or even 3 possible part numbers for this?

35330-60020

35330-60030

35330-30011

also we need to order gaskets separately it seems?

I have a new oem rad on order and figure I should do tran filter and flush at same time, appreciate any help.

UPDATE: Finally got around to this job & tranny flush.

just noticing part # on Tims video, when on my tablet at home I didn't see his list. since most sites seem to approve his part# for mine I'm gonna use same one...

The auto-trans are all the same for all 3rd gen 4runners, I've personally used that part number in my '99 so that's an appropriate item.

As for the gasket, Toyota uses Form In Place Gasket (FPIG) for the transmission pan. There's a cork (I think, might be rubber) alternative out there through one of the auto-parts stores. Lots of people on here have reported no issues with them, but a few have said they had issues (weeping, pan deformation around the bolt holes, don't remember what else).

Personally I opted for FIPG before going in. In hindsight, I'm happy with that choice as I'll never drop the transmission pan again. The original filter at 200k miles looked fine, there was next to no schmoo on the magnets, and I've installed a MagnaFine inline filter that will be easier to change (and probably more effective as a filter). Personal choice.
 
thanks for reply, yes I agree ill probably go with FIPG also as I don't think ill ever drop pan again, fingers crossed!! and I will add an inline filter sometime soon, just not on current parts order...

did the filter gaskets come with the filter though?

Watch out with that comment. The 2WD trans pan (and filter) is different than the 4WD pan. The main body of the transmission is the same generally year-for-year other than the output configuration (rear housing, output shaft, etc.)

I agree..... That I know of there are 3 different filters. I've personally had the 3 hole one in hand and then realized the tranny used a 2 hole one mid job.

perhaps I should've specified 3.4 4wd, got a lil lacksie daisy there...

When I did mine NAPA had 2 different filters listed for the 4WD so I bought both then took one back. I used to cork gasket that came with it and have had no leaks, they say to retorque it in a couple weeks as it may settle.
I did the flush, added an inline filter, and aux cooler as well. For ~$100 it's a cheap upgrade.

Thought I should post this.info.

So I ordered part # 35330-60030 online from Bommarito Toyota which forced me to enter VIN (normally optional) they wouldn't NOT process the order citing I needed part # 35330-60020. They called and.emailed me following day.

Not wanting to take only their word for it,.I want.to my local dealer, gave them my VIN and got same answer, 35330-60020

1999 SR5 4WD 3.4V6 AT. Truck is stock and unmolested. Haven't done.job yet but if I have any issues I'll post back here for anyone referencing in future.

Please let us know what you find out. I just got back from my local Toyota dealer and ALSO recieved the 60020 unit for my 2000 SR5 4x4.

They swore up and down it was correct based on my VIN despite me suggesting the 60030 unit.

Yep I will for sure, legit probably won't be for a few wks still cold here and this is a driveway job for me and I'm using the Toyota FIPG so need warmer temps.

Knowing 2 dealers said same for me, one in U.S. one here in Cda and same for yourself, they're prolly right lol.

My local dealership here for anyone.interested quoted me 150.00 cdn, about 120.00 USD.
By ordering from U.S. I'll end up paying approx 56 cdn a savings of 115 cdn after taxes...

I'm not 100% certain on where the 2 part numbers go. I've always bought the #30 and one time I did thinking that's what I needed and then the Tranny had a 2 hole one (#20).

In this old post Tim says #30 and his picture is of the 3 hole unit.

Lets us know what you find out. Maybe one day we'll have it figured out.
 
disclosure: not the most mechanically inclined individual but quite handy in general...

I noticed in Tims Vid comments section someone asked about part# and he wisely told them to chk with dealer depending on his vehicle yr etc or something like that.

i cant imagine the tranny from my 99 being drastically different from even the 02, like others have said, they've used the part#----30 on their 99s so its prolly not any big issue.

regardless Toyota is doing this for some reason, heck maybe they have a massive surplus of part# ---20s lol.
 
Once in a while. You will notice Toyotas part number will change. They do this for several reasons. The part goes thru a revision upgrade. Price changes at times will on occasion change numbers.

Lots of times my local dealer will go through 3 to even 4 supercededs set of numbers before you get the current good part number.

I always suggest everyone verify part numbers before ordering. This is one of the reasons why the dealers ask for VINs to verify parts. Granted this is if your components match their build sheet. Naturally if engine, transmissions, axle housing are from different rigs. Always keep that donor VIN handy as Toyota can and will change things on the assembly lines.

The transmissions did have changes over 1996 through 2002. The valve body is an excellent example of a change. Now did the filter change any from 1996 through 2002. I honestly dont know. As a guess they be extremely close.

I just figured I would add this to this thread for other users in case they are unaware of this. :)

I’m hoping to drain, drop the pan, replace filter, clean magnets, Clean surfaces and FIPG re-install, and then do a full fluid exchange 1qt at a time

I am just nervous to drop the pan now because I’ve got a filter ending in #60020 and I’m not sure if it’s the right one for a 2000 4x4 SR5. Would hate to drop the pan and have the wrong filter

Can anyone confirm they’ve used a 60020 filter (not a 60030) on a 4x4 trans?
