Help on front hub!

I'm trying to do the front wheel bearing replace. I've got everything disconnected ( ubj, lbj, otre, abs sensor ) axle nut off, but I can't separate the hub from the axle. I want to take the spindle to a machine shop to have the bearings done, but I'm stuck. Do you use a wheel puller to separate? So far everything has been a real challenge. I'm in the north country, so there's a lot of rust. Any help would be appreciated. I've already PM'ed a member, but if he doesn't know I'd like to ask the rest of the crew. Thanks

If you removed the 36mm axle nut it should pull right off provided all of the ball joints are free. Maybe rust or corrosion is holding it on. Did you try a few taps with a rubber mallet?
 
I used a dead blow hammer with no results...I now have a wheel puller on it with slight pressure and no results
Should it separate between where the rear seal is?

Trying to separate the whole spindle assy to take in to a machine shop to have the bearings pressed out and in. Everything is loose except I can't get the hub off
 
OK...finally got the hub and knuckle off..splines were somewhat rusted. Had to use a wheel puller. Now... when I turn the driver side axle I hear a clicking, like gears meshing. Sounds like it is in the diff, but could it be a bad cv joint? Pass side axle doesn't do it.
 
Mine was a little rusted too. I hit it with a hammer and it popped out, but not before I deformed the threads on the axle enough to not let the nut go back on. I had to grind off the first couple threads to get the nut back on...

You never hit anything with threads on it, you just end up damaging it. I guess we all live and learn that way though. LOL.

To the OP I think last time I had this issue I wedged a screw driver inbetween and broke them apart that way. GOOD LUCK!

Yeah... I know...

Actually I beat it mercilessly with my heavy rubber mallet, but it didn't budge, so I went for the impact of a normal hammer. I should have used a punch, socket, or something else to put against it, then hit the socket so that I wasn't striking the axle itself. That would have worked fine.
 
I'm beginning to think the noise I heard wasn't the wheel bearing after all. I think it's either the cv joint or in the differential.
 
As I pm'd I have a drivers side knuckle off my 97 you can have free if you cover the shipping costs if it turns out your bearing is the issue or if you did any damage to the knuckle getting yours off.

Good luck finding the issues.
