Help!!! P0171!!!

I've sold some things on ebay that occasionally get shipped to other countries...I am always amazed at the cost of shipping!! People will pay several times more than what the product costs to get it shipped to them...Good luck finding a deal on that MAF and getting it replaced ASAP.
 
Well, I went to pick up the MAF sensor today, and they tell me that it is not in stock at any of their suppliers! Looks like the only way I'll get one is either from the dealer, or off E-bay! I'm still not entirely sure I need one yet....but will test the MAF with my bro-in-law tomorow night, and go from there.

Gentlemen.....I give you.....the extinction of P0171! After much testing of the MAF, and then eventual frustration....we decided to just swap out the 02 Sensor and see what happens.

After over 70kms driven, I am happy to say that the CEL did not return! The truck seems to also have a little more pep!!

I'm extremely overjoyed, and want to thank all of you for all your input in this matter!

...Figures. After me pressing the MAF issue, its not surprising it would go the other way with my luck. :)

Welp, this is probably the 2nd time in 7 years I heard the P0171 being cured with a O2 and not a MAF sensor.
 
i would have to agree, i work for toyota and we had a a lot truck my gm let me swap on my truck to see if it would give me better readings on my windband and nothing changed, turned out it was my 6 injector kit from urd the tune was off alot, nice job, i had replaced both my o2's and my cat to just because i wanted to and to see if it would change any readings and nothing, but now after truck is warmed up if i shut it off, run into the store and come out it runs way lean. anybody have any ideas, i saw a thread for this a while ago but still cant find it. if any of you know that would be great. thanks

That's great, I am glad you got it done!! Almost wonder if I should replace my o2 for PM.... Congrats!
 
THanks guys! I'm not sure, but I swear that the truck runs better now! I'm anxious to see how the fuel mileage is now though!

Gas mileage will be improved for sure. Even if the O2 sensor didn't need to be changed, you'll see an improvement :)

930.00 $ later i ddecided to come to this forum again and read rough idle stumble at high rpm rough start in morn i put toyota plugs duel ground in and i clean the maf sensor every 3 months but as i read someone here posted when cleaning MAF to not only clean "ruby" look for the two little wires down inside which i didnt know were there after cleaning those with crc ran much much better90% improvement, I have KN air flow and supercharger i agree that KN allows too much dirt in do not oil these is my opinion as to oil will atract dirt..good luck ps the two little wires will have raised nubs in middle of wires dont try and knock these off you will see after cleaning.
 
Well.... P0171 came back!!! :( Gonna check the MAF and vaccuum lines again.... Can't see it being the O2 Sensor again.... but might be. If so, I pretty sure those damn Ebay Fuel Injectors I bought, are still giving me issues. Exhaust smells like fuel when I first start it...... might be messing up my 02 Sensors......

I'm going to try a new MAF sensor, I hope it fixes the problem.
 
Cleaned my MAF... and wiped down my Throttle body.... but found this....



Seems to be coming from this???




Oil in my intake??? Kinda weird no???
 
That is the pvc vent line. The pvc valve is on the passenger side valve cover and that is the vent line from the back of the drivers side valve cover. I have similar oily looking throttle body. I dont know if its benign or a problem. Maybe someone who knows can help.
 
Also. Partsource has never had any good price on parts imho. I called the dealer for a fuel injector, they quoted me 199. I called partsource and they wanted 238.38(weird price) for an aftermarket injector!! Rock auto is awesome as well. They ship to canada and the prices are great, around 25 for shipping but its still cheaper in the end. The stuff comes quick too, usaually around a week. I am in Toronto. Good luck with the p0171, I thought you took out the ebay injectors?
 
I'm still running 1 of them in there.... seller didn't want to refund me the money, unless I shipped him the complete set of injectors... and didn't trust him to do it. Rather than be out a the money... I figured I'd just run one... and it worked.

My code seems to have gone away. I drove a nearly 60km round trip today, and the light didn't come back on. All I did was clean the MAF.... so far so good. I used some Electrical Contact Cleaner.... gave it 2 or 3 blasts... let it dry thoroughly, with the Negative cable disconnected from the battery, and then put it all together.

I'm gonna keep driving it for the next couple of days... and see what happens. :)
 
Mean Green is getting revenge on you for having to play second fiddle to the Tacoma.

If you never replaced the MAF, then it may be on its way out. As good as Toyota is, parts do need replacing.

You did see my response to the oil in the intake in the other thread?
 
I'm also having a P0171 trouble code as well. I've narrowed it down to two things, vacuum lines or clogged fuel filter.

Two more things I need to do when I change my oil.
