Shopping Help Request: 2010/11 Trail Edition w/ KDSS for sale?

First off, wanted to introduce myself - I'm Justin and I've been lurking here for a bit. I'm currently shopping, but having a bit of a hard time tracking down exactly what I want (heh, need?!).

I'm looking for a used 2010/11 Trail Edition with KDSS. I know of one option out there right now, but options are always a good thing! If you know of one in your area, please post/hit me with a PM s that I can get moving on this. I've got an offer in on the one I know of, but am awaiting a reply - so perhaps this thread will be dead come tomorrow!

I'm coming from a Nissan and this will be my first Toyota. My 2005 Frontier was modded to no end, but the transmission died @90k! I had radflo 2.0 up front and deaver/shackle/bils5125 rear with the Nismo 4x4 package (locker and all). While I did love this truck, I came to dislike the lift on it due to the amount of extra noise that came with it, so I will try and not end up in the same place with this 4runner. That being said, I've found a used 4R with the Icon setup and am curious, but afraid of the low-speed handling/bump absorption penalty, as we don't have open desert runs here in Austin, TX that would let me open it up to appreciate that. I could see a leveling kit going on and some sliders, but that is it since this truck sees 95% road. Of course, what started with a leveling kit lead my frontier to this (RIP):

Anyways, thanks for the help and guidance everyone here has already given, I've been reading up.

And if you can point me towards a used TE with KDSS, it would be greatly appreciated!

2010 CPO TE with KDSS and Nav. Emblems are now black, WeatherTech floorliners are installed (thanks MrGrimm) and the list of mods is about to start growing!

Very nice truck!

I'm picking up my T4R SR5 on Wednesday myself, came from a 2010 Frontier CC 4x4 LE that was totaled last month. First step was making the move from clubfrontier.org to here lol.

Interested to see what others say about Icon...
 
Check out this link for a few leads. You need to call each dealership and have them verify KDSS. Some post it on the page with out really knowing and others don't even list it although the truck might have it.

Used Cars for Sale: Listings Near 77079 - Cars.com

Be prepared to get it from another state, these are in High demand and the price reflects that. Get your best financing deal and pay as much down as possible to get the best deal. I paid 37,800 last may for a 2010 Trail with KDSS and no NAV with 8K miles.

All good points! Thanks for the link - I've been shopping autotrader.com and cars.com as well as CL nationwide and have limited luck so far. My interwebs kung-fu is strong and you'll find many dealers don't even know to differentiate the trail from the others, or advertise it as "sport"...let alone knowing anything about KDSS. I know private party transport costs coast to coast to austin, and know a dealer is usually a bit better with the inside line there.

I've already got my blank check in hand, financing is all hammered out and ready to rip. Just waiting for that special gir..er, truck to come my way.

That one at the Ford Dealer has been sold for weeks now, they are just keeping it up to try and get some/any attention they can.

I actually talked to a guy that moved from a T4R 4th Gen to that exact T4R, but returned it the next day because it caused his sciatica to flare up...he then returned it and got a F150 (which was more suited to his use anyways). I just happened to find him thru his old 4th gen ad on CL, which I was going to check out since it was so clean.

He said he had them down to $32800, which is slightly higher than I am really seeing nation-wide, fwiw.

Thanks. I've talked with Jeremy up there - it does have KDSS, but honestly, it is way out of market line at 39k and over 20k on the odo. I'd love to own it, but they don't have the wiggle room to bump for my budget.

My budget is generous too and I've got a non-KDSS on the line for 31k that is CPO and all...I'd just really prefer to have the KDSS!
 
Awaiting a response from the owner, super nice guy and I'd love to have it. This is the one I want, no doubt! Just waiting for him to get back to me!

Biting my nails is the hardest part.


I had emailed another seller about their truck, got a pic from them, since they don't know what KDSS is - this one is non-kdss, right?

Looks like I am still searching, as my existing bid is still on hold!

Thanks for the suggestions, you guys have pointed out a few that I haven't stumbled on! I wish there were a way to search the entire Toyota used inventory...but by using Autotrader, cars and ebay/cl, I figure I'm covering as much as is realistically possible.

I'll certainly post up when I buy, hopefully time in transport isn't unbearable!

That is much more in line with market that I am seeing.
I've got him down to 35k, but that is not OTD...if they'd do 34k OTD I'd have it here tomorrow!

I agree that it's overpriced but I didn't know what kind of luck you'd have if you contacted them. I'm not in the market for a 5th gen but I saw this one on the lot and figured it was worth sharing.

Thanks man - that is one of the ones that I simply had not seen.

I'm working on them...we'll see what happens with it. I think they over payed on it at auction, so their wiggle room is gone.

I appreciate the heads up on this - this is the one I am closest to getting into range.

I felt really good about the deal we got. I was luck to have it pop up 10 minutes from where I live. The salesman we worked with was fantastic, I'll tell him to let me know if he sees another one pop up

I found it fresh on the trade-in list in Dallas, TX - so close to home for me, which is worth a lot.

I'd recommend against Toyota of Dallas though - they tried to change the price on me, and then they tried to bait & switch by reneging on the CPO certification! It was quite a farce of a deal, and I am pretty sure they'll never talk to me again, but good riddance. I got a great deal on the truck and have been loving it. I need to grab a bike rack so I don't damage the interior on it.
 
Hope you find the vehicle you want soon!

But if I am spending $34k on a used TE with 30k miles then I rather spend ~$39k OTD for a brand new one.
