help wit aftermarket head lights

i want to put on some aftermarket black headlights but dont want to go the halo route instead i was looking at thesehttp://www.amazon.com/dp/B005XRR4KY/ref=asc_df_B005XRR4KY1802991?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=pg-46-01-20&linkCode=asn&creative=395097&creativeASIN=B005XRR4KY
the only problem i have is that i dont know the bulb size since i want to put hds on it anybody have any clue?

The headlights that come stock on 4Runners are highly superior to any average priced replacements. If you want to black them out do a search and look into painting what you have already. You won't be sorry.
 
i was looking at these when i was looking to replace the stock ones, which were yellow and had moisture in them. i decided to go with the halos because of the halogen projectors. they light output they put out is far better than the stock reflector lights (i am talking about the halogens before i installed HIDs) the halos are nice, received nothing but complements on them. they arent overdone like they may seem.
 
ur halo projector is far worse then us true guys with the retrofit hid projectors, better output and usable light. i have not heard great things on after market halogen projectors, i heard and seen all and they really suck, enough to cause u the driver, and unsafe driving experience. got any output pictures that ur halos will be better than stock? and better than a true retrofit? ill give u some videos in my retrofit thread.

the halos that I have are not meant to act as headlights. they are connected to the parking lights and are basically as bright as the DRLs. The halogen light is inside one halo and the high beam is inside another. I can run out tonight and take pictures of my light output, which is 10x better than the stock headlights. I do have 6000K HIDs, did not take pictures before i installed those. But the halogen beam was far brighter than the stock setup.
 
i know what halo light is, im talkin about the halogen projectors in those light, its far worser than a stock 06+ projectors. its way badder than a true hid projector retrofit. it might look good to you, but its gona cause an unsafe driving condition.

Have you ever seen the lights I have? I don't have, nor did I want to get the '06 + headlights. I have an '03 so they would not have fit like they're supposed to. All I am saying is that the '03-'-05 stock headlights were much "worser" than the ones I have now. How can these cause unsafe driving conditions? I am not comparing them to the '06 projectors, I am comparing them to the stock '03 headlights which are the ones I have actually seen.
 
your aftermarket lights might look better than the stock reflectors (03-05), actually its far worse. im telling you that aftermarket use cheap projectors. plus the amount of money that u pay for the aftermarket lights, u can use that money towards a hid projector retrofit. money well spent for better results. im just telling u as a warning that aftermarket lights are a hit or miss.

I already have them installed and I am very satisfied with them. They are not cheap aftermarket like you may think, they are from a reputable company SPEC-D Tuning. They were great before I installed the 6000K HIDs but obviously now they are far better. And HIDs in a halogen projector are better than HIDs in a reflector headlight.
 
I replaced a headlight with a DEPO brand one and it started fogging up after a couple of months. Also the bulb cover's on the back are cheaply made and poorly fitting (compared to stock). I would do as recommended above and use stock headlights. Open em up and paint em black if you are going for that look.

though hid in halogen is better than hid in reflector, glare is still there, just not as worse. i still wont waste money on cheap light, i would spend more for retrofit, thats why i retrofit some rx-afs projectors in place of halogen projectors. if u want, check out my projector vids.

thanks for the help buddy i think im sold on the projection headlights you wouldnt happend to know the hid bulb size would you because i dont see my self driving without hid again , and i believe u also have to go down on the watts to?

U just dont get it huh. I woulndt waste money on crap aftermarket lights, a word of warning is that they use cheap projectors and leds, i think your going to put the stocks back in after u install these.
 
highly doubt it because i did the same for my old expedition, but thanks for your input anyway, btw my stock headlights r broke (phsyco ex)

^ Cu Pho, As much convincing as you are, its all about the Halos. Some just dont care about output or planning on seeing at night, its just about looks.

We hid nerds are all about cutoffs and widths which most wont understand.

X3: Halos are ok if you have a late model BMW. They look silly on an SUV that's been out of production for a couple of years now. BUT, to each their own. Lights are a SAFETY item, not a "bling" toy. This is why I shelled out $ for a proper retro. The fact that it looks cool wasn't a top priority when I got them, lighting (output/beam pattern/etc) was. Looking cool was just "icing on the cake" for me.

I completely agree, they are very gawdy, but then again, to each their own! The output/cut offs on that kit are absolutely terrible.
