I am replacing the rear shocks on my 2007 V6 RWD 4-Runner. I may need a part for each side called a "Retainer Cushion"..essentially a contoured/flanged looking washer (it's Toyota part # 90948-02119).
When I called a dealer in town they said that according to the 'puter that part was discontinued as far as Toyota was concerned, and no dealers in the general area had any. Ridiculous, but I'll take him at his word for the moment. I realize there are aftermarket offerings under this part number on Amazon, Ebay, etc., but shipping cost is atrocious, and additionally I am always concerned with quality when using these channels.
I'd like to be able to just drive into dealership and buy these if possible. I have to believe that other, newer models of Toyotas, incl Tacomas, use this exact same piece for their shocks as well, just under a different part number, but I don't understand how to get to that number. For instance, when I look at exploded diagrams for Gen5 4-Runners, I see numbers that look nothing like this part number, and also are difficult to associate with a specific part on the diagram.
Any thoughts or guidance would be appreciated...
