Help with Installing a 12v outlet on 08 SR5 V6

I'm looking to install a 12v outlet in my 2008 SR5 V6 4x4 for the back row seating (I"m thinking of installing it under the rear air vents). I just purchased a set of headrest DVD screens for my kids and would like to install a 12v outlet in that location. The two 12v outlets in the 4R are in the front and one way in the back which are both out of the way. I"m surprised that toyota did not install one in the rear seat section (My 2001 VW passat has one in that exact location and it is perfect for my kids with their electronic toys!). Has anyone tried installing a 12v socket in the back of the center column just below the rear air vents? If so, was it easy and what is involved? Thanks,

Don't think I've ever seen anyone do this and document it on the forum, but I could be wrong. That is an interesting proposition and I can understand why you would need the outlets for power. What about running power wires from either the front or the rear 12V outlet so you can wire it into the center console?
I am always hesitant to drill into parts on the truck cause you only got one shot, haha. You could always get a splitter too, which are sold at Radio Shack to hook up multiple plugs for power.
I also believe that some of us have the center console "hilux" trash bag holder there, not sure how many utilize it. I know I've got it in my 05.

12V Cig Lighter in Console 2008

I have a 2008 SR5 and I added a 12v cig into the center console and a usb power on a spare unused button on the console for iphone stuff.

I'd suggest you tap the 12v cig lighter with a wire pair and run it down to the rear of the console.

Use the West Marine 12v receptacles. they look real good. I also put two in the back in the cargo area... still need to run 14g or 12g wire back there for them
