Help with picking suspension for 2015

I just sold my 06 sas tacoma to get a 2015 blk on blk 4runner. Looking at a 3" lift. But can decide on the stage 1 Icon or the toytec boss/ ultimate. I know this has been answered billions of times. But rather digging for it. i wanted to start my own thread.

Damn, that's a badass Taco!

I like the Icon COs that I installed on my 5th gen. You can see them in my build thread. One of the reasons I like them is that the adjusting collar is at the top of the CO instead of the bottom. I can adjust them easily with the tire still on and I would guess the threads will stay a little cleaner as well. I plan on installing some Icons on my 4th gen someday as well.

Im leaning towards icon as i like the ride on my buddy's tacoma. how much did you piece your kit together for? downsouth is quoting me 1635 shipped for the stage 1.

I would have to dig for the receipt for the exact amount. Lets see, for extended travel IVD coated Icons, Camburg BJ UCAs, ball joint covers, 1.5" rear SAW coils, rear Bilstein 5100s, and spanner wrench I believe it was right around $1800 from Wheelers offroad with the Black Friday discounts. It completely changed how my 5th gen feels all for the better. I feels light and nimble just like a 4runner should feel. The Icons took away a little of the nose dive but, along with the SAW coils and 5100s, really improved the cornering abilities- a lot less body roll.

The only thing I wouldn't do over is the Camburg UCAs. There is not much (if any) additional caster built into them like they claim. I'd go with Icon or TC instead. Oh well, live and learn.

I went with the Toytec Boss and Total Chaos UCA's. Had the setup on my 2011 FJC, and felt that it covered me well for what I did with my rig. If you are going to push your suspension harder.. maybe you need to look for reservoir options from icon, king, or SAW.

If you need rear articulation, Metal Tech makes a wonderful rear long travel kit combined with Icon coilovers in the front. Metal Tech sells the Icon stage kits and Icon Stage kits combined with their own stuff (kind of a metaltech/icon hybrid kit).

its hard to admit but i think im gonna keep this a mild build compared to the sas tacoma. it will be 95% street driven. As i plan on getting a trail rig later. how does the toytec boss kit ride? my main goal is comfort..

I have the boss front and saw rear. Great combo for street and mild offroad. The boss uses a 600 lb coil while the icon uses a 650 (both also offer higher rates as well) which worked better for me. Softer ride and i dont have a winch or steel bumper.

Don't leave out RadFlo and Kings. Looking at your last build I can see you will do it right the first time. Both ride great on the street and do awesome in the dirt.

Too bad you couldn't have kept that front axle set up and threw it underneath the new Runner.
