Help with sway bar end link bushings please!

OK, I replaced my front and rear sway bar bushings with some polyurethane bushings...so far so good. But I've been trying for a week to figure out how to remove the end link bushings!

Here's what I'm looking at.

Do I unscrew the nut off the top of the bolt while holding the bolt stationary from below like this?

If I'm correct, then that nut is not coming off. I put the force of a thousand gods on that thing and couldn't budge it. And this is after a gallon of PB blaster soaked it. Am I doing something wrong? I'm about to say screw it, hang that bag of end link bushings in a tree and do this: :uzi:

That's how I did mine, took the top nut off just as in your pic.

That's correct, just add some more muscle. The lock nut is just frozen on from years of rust. If you feel comfortable with it, clean off the PB and take a micro torch to the nut and heat it up (keep a fire extinguisher near by):flamethrwoer2:.

Or...

You can take a sawzall to them and replace them with Medlinks. Contact Phil (Medic83) on 120 first to make sure he still has some left.

That's how I did mine, took the top nut off just as in your pic.

Then I think mine is just rusted to hell like the rest of the undercarriage. Would sure make working on the thing more fun if it weren't for all the rust. Snapped a bolt off doing the rear sway bar bushings and had to drill it out of the bracket. Ugh.

Would taking the wheel off and jacking the suspension help at all? I figure that would just make it worse. I think I'm going to have some end link bushings for sale.
