Help!!!!!!!!!!!

This time I really did it... So I installed LED lighting on the interior and exterior of my truck which looked great at first, but this morning I got a bad smell coming from inside. I came to realize that my front map lights were out, the small "blue" light was out, and also my home link was not working. I've tried looking through the manuals and checked fuses which I thought would be linked to it, but nothing there. Any ideas on what it could be or how I could fix it? Please help me as right now I feel hopeless and probably going to end up taking it to the dealer which I feel will become very expensive.

Any thoughts are welcomed.

Well....this is not the 'right/moral' thing to do, but if you kept your old lights, reinstall ALL of them. Take it to the dealer and say 'gee, I don't know what happened!?' If they can not show that you modified anything then they 'should' fix it at no cost. I would assume a light is a light and replacing them with LED's should not matter but who knows. These are the risks we take when we mod :) I have thought about going the LED route, interior only, but now I might just hold off. Best of luck!

I know I hear you on it being the "right" thing, but I think it's my last resort. I've already put all of my lights back to the stock ones. Yeah I agree, I'm finding out the hard way that there are risks to our mods. It looks nice, but not worth the headache. Thanks for your input.

I don't know for sure, but I suspect that you have an issue with wiring, not the LEDs. They are just bulbs. No warranty would be void because of owner replacing bulbs. I don't think putting LEDs in your map light spots is really that risky...don't get discouraged! That being said, now I am going to be more careful! Please let us know what the dealer says!

How did you check the fuses? Did you use a multi meter and perform a continutity test? A fuse can look good, but still be bad...

LED bulbs draw much less amps then filament bulbs. There must be a short in the circuit (which may have been caused by changing the bulbs). I suggest pulling the bulbs and checking the connectors and wiring for those bulbs. A fuse should have blown. Replace the original bulbs and fuse and see if all is well.

Update-Well took it in to the dealer and after they took a look at it, they said that they could not determine the cause, but that the overhead console assembly had a short. I guess this really didn't help determine if it was the LED bulbs or something else. They went ahead and ordered the part, we'll see how it turns out.

Wonder what exact part of it shorted out...there is a whole lot going on up there in that thing...were the other gizmos in it not working too? It is still very unlikely that your bulbs caused that. I vote that you try the LEDs again after they get you the new part! You probably will be just fine.

Not sure exactly what shorted out, but that "blue" shift light was out, my homelink went out, the Bluetooth Mic didn't work, and obviously the bulbs. I know they ordered part # 81260-35200BO which I couldn't locate on the parts manual. The only thing that came close was either part #81260-35430BO which would apply since I don't have a sunroof.
