Hey guys, Please help!!

99-4runner

New member
Okay so I had a 99 4runner, and sold it to buy an 01 ss camaro. BAD idea. I regret it. So I am going to buy a 1st gen 4runner to fix the hole in my heart.

I have found this one 88 toyota 4runner lifted

He said he would take 1800 for it. I went and look at it today.... damn was it rough on the inside. the interior is bad. passenger door panel is falling off, switches are missing, random wires and ****... broken center console... anyways, look at the pics. What are your guys thoughts? Is the rust something I can stop from getting worse? what do you think this rig is worth?

also, passenger window, and back window dont roll down. also the passenger turn signal is gone, as well as one windshield wiper

3" body lift. stock suspension.

That thing looks beat. I would offer him 800 (assuming it runs mint) And if he declines walk away.

Edit: It looks MUCH better on the CL add.

Agreed with the above! If it's been all hacked up then you'll have nightmares anytime you try and work on it. Walk away, if he agreed to go down from $2300 to $1800 then I doubt he'll go down to a reasonable price on it. And unless you're really looking for a project and know the wiring on these 4runners very well I wouldn't even mess with it.

For about another $500 or so you can get one in much better shape and save yourself some loot in the long run.

No I did not buy it thank god. After having a few days to think about it im glad I didnt. Where are all the 1st gens at guys? I cant find ANY good ones that are good deals on craigslist... I really want one and my limit is 2000. Ive got cash in hand and ready to buy!!!

I think you'll be lucky to find a 1st in good shape for under $2000. If you're willing to play mix and match, you might find a good body/chassis with a blown engine and a decent drivetrain from a wrecked rig and stay in your budget that way, but it's more work of course.

Or, keep looking. Every now and again good deals will come up, just stay on top of the ads. Be willing to drive to get it, too... :)

I check CL every day haha. And yea I am more than willing to do a motor swap! I found a few that needed small stuff like head gaskets or timing chains... but their always sold!
