HF phone sound quality

Hey everyone -

I have a 2012 TE. I have noticed a couple of strange things relative to the hands-free phone that I would appreciate your read on.

1) When the phone ringer is on mute (set to mute on the phone) and someone calls me, I hear a muted "ringing" from somewhere in the dash. It's almost like what you would hear if the ringer was a old style "bell and rattler" with a finger or something on the bell to keep it from "ringing". The radio has to be turned down low to hear it. I don't think it's coming from the speakers.

2) When listening to the person on the phone, the sound quality is pretty bad. It is very "chirpy" - almost like what you'd hear if the voice coil was rubbing against the speaker magnet. The issue is not common to any one speaker. The speakers sound GREAT when playing the radio (entune).

Any thoughts? I guess I am curious as to whether or not this is normal.

Update: I went and listened to the sound from all of the front speakers. All of them sounded chirpy (which is to say I don't think there is a problem with any one speaker). I tried re-pairing the phone, but this did not help.

I am going to try and pair my wifes phone with the vehicle to see if that makes a difference.
