HID bulb temp?

Gonna be ordering a retrofit kit for my 3rd gen from TRS. Figured I might as well pick up a HID kit for the 5th gen while I am at it.

I called and asked about the tacoma kit and I was told it would work with my 16 4runner. Which bulb temp are you guys using? I thought the 4500K would be closest to white. What is the difference between 4500K and 5500K?

4500k will look the most like a OEM HID system, I use 4300k Phillips bulbs and they have a color output similar to the bi-xenons on my BMW.

some people use 5000k to try to match LED lights

anything over 5000k is too blue IMO

Especially with a 35w kit 4500k will be MUCH whiter than 5500k. If you're standing in front of the vehicle (above the cutoff) and looking at the projector the light will appear white @ 4500k and blue @ 5500k. Below the cutoff the light output will have a SLIGHT tint of blue at 4500k, and will be mostly blue at 5500k.

The difference will be less substantial with 55w kit as the colors wash out a bit, but it will still be noticeably "bluer" at 5500k.

When running aftermarket bulbs I always ran 4500k as that was typically the closest they had to 4300k. I also ran 4300k phillips bulbs though, like the poster above.

On my GX I used 5000k bulbs to contrast my very, very yellow LED fog lights.
