HID kit help (DDM)

no it didn't seem that hot. it was just a little warm, i put my hand down there about 10-15 minutes after i got back so im hoping it will works ok. the wires are a little short for our trucks so the options are limited but i think it will work.

but yeah i drove about 40 miles out to the ski resort so i was on some rural roads as well as all over the city and nobody flashed me. but it is utah and i think people here just put up with stuff that annoys them lol!

im still a little concerned cause they're pretty bright. but thanks for that aiming info i gotta go find a flat spot now and see what i can do
 
really?? wow, that would be a much safer location i would think, as far as heat issues and moving parts... Big Jon are you going to re-aim your lights?

I would like to see how you ran the wires if you have some pix.
I got the blue sea fuse box and some 8 gauge wire, now I am going to run it on the passenger side of the engine bay so I can get power from both sides. I may get around to doing this over my kids christmas break.
 
so Im trying to decide if i really need to adjust these lights. i went out and found myself a wall and it seems the passenger side is a little higher than the driver side but it looks like that it the pic above with the projectors too... so im asuming this is how it's supposed to be?

I went out and stood in front of the truck and the HID's wen't blinding at all, I crouched down to a little car driver level and they wern't any worse than looking into a regular halogen bulb, just a different color.

I dont know I may lower the passenger side to match the driver side I'm stumped on this one? Did any of you guys with OEM housing lower your lights?

I'll snap a couple tomorrow for you. Scotty did his tonight and was easily able to go around the rear of the engine as well.
When you are laying out the harness, it surely looks like it won't go around. But after you factor in the length of wire after the ballast, there's just enough to do the job without the wires being tight at all.
I zip tied to the wires that go to the MAF (IIRC) which was the only short cut I had to take and I have plenty of slack in my wiring.
Also... I've heard of it taking a few weeks for others to get their kit from DDM. I ordered mine and Scotty's Sunday afternoon ( payed the $5 for 2nd day air) and we had them Wednesday afternoon.
 
I ordered mine some time Saturday or early Sunday. It says my expected delivery is the 21st. That's not too bad in my opinion.

I haven't heard of people having problems with the wire length. Hope it won't be too bad.
 
mine should be here anyday, what are you guys using to mount the ballasts?

2 sided tape? silicone adhesive ?

Okay, so this is something that BigJohn and I have both had issues with. I just installed mine last night.

In serveral different cases, I will turn my headlights on when cold. They will ignite but then go out. On the 2nd or 3rd try they will ignite and stay on.

John has an issue with one of his doing this as well. Both of mine do it. Even tested it this morning again. Its somewhat of a PITA. Especially when you park someplace like the supermarket and can't tell when you turn the lights on.

Anyone else had issues with this?
 
That's strange. Have you tried swapping the ballasts from side to side?

I've had mine work in cold weather ~25 F (Cold for SC) and they have been fine.

i used 3m tape and it seems pretty solid now, i couldn't figure out how to ziptie those things on there.

thats really strange, As for hooking them up do you have multiple things connected to your battery and the ground connection? I'm just asking cause i did and i had to put little metal spacers in between each aux unit that was grounded and each aux wire connected to my positive terminal to get a solid connection.

EDIT: When you guys start to aim your lights can you take a pic of where you guys aimed them, i just adjusted my pass side lastnight so the beam matches the driver side but i have no clue if im blinding people or not.

Just finished mounting the blue sea fuse block.. Took my time and fabbed a little bracket for it. Might re-do the bracket later, but will work for wiring the lights.

Not yet. I still have to permanently mount everything and I'm questioning one of my grounds but haven't had time to mess with it yet. I talked to DDM and they are ready to replace whatever might be defective once I diagnose it to be a defect problem.
 
Mine are still doing it. I Just checked the grounds again and they are fine. I guess I will swap the ballasts over tomorrow. Most of the time its my DS light that does it. But when its really cold out both will do it. It sucks to have to start the rig, and then walk up front to make sure they are both on.

FWIW, mine will need adjustment as well. I have some dead spots in the lighting that I want to get rid of.
 
dang man thats disappointing! thank goodness for that warranty!

I actually got flashed tonight but i think it was probably some old fella cause there was a line of cars and he was in the line just waiting for me to go by him, when i did, he hit his highbeams. Nobody else seemed to care However, there was another person driving in front of me seemed annoyed fixing her mirror then moving over, etc...

So my guilty conscious hit me and I found a wall and followed that diagram and aimed them down a little but now i cant tell if that killed my whole purpose in getting these so that I can see better haha!
 
Not as detailed a write up as I was gong for.
1st - installed Blue Sea 6 channel fuse block with ground bus.

Then got busy with DDM kit. I pulled out the air box and mounted the balast to the engine bay wall with the 3M super adhesive double side tape. Sorry I didnt get a pic of everything out.

Then I got the relay and wire harness secured

I mounted the driver side balast on the engine bay wall next to the battery.

I ran the wire for the driver side up and over the engine along the vac lines and secured it out of the way.

I didnt get the obligatory awesome light output shot but I did go driving on some windy country roads last night and - DAMN! These 6K 35w bulbs are bright! I can see ! I love these things!
I did my best to aim them low, but I just kinda eyeballed it on the garage door at about 10 feet.
So far, I love them.
