HID kit help (DDM)

EDIT: thats crazy? if you are talking about the part in the housing then i say no cause i didn't do it. Just take of the shield and install it in the housing then put the bulb and rubber weather thing in. No need for cutting it just run it under hot water and then dry it, it should go right on

Clemson keep us posted on how you modify the casper shield, I may want to do this

cool just got mine on and they look great. very white light and i thought it would be blueer but thats fine. just need to adjust them and will be all good.

BUT for some reason i tryed turning on my fog lights and they didnt turn on but the brights did. i can push the handle forward to keep them on, pull it back to hold it on, and turn the stock fog light switch and turn on the brights? and insite on that?? im really confused.

No, I don't think you need to do that.

ADH8796- Those look good. It's crazy how dim they make the Silverstar look.

GottaBe- I will. I'm pretty sure that opening in the bottom is where the extra light comes out for the high beam. If I cover it, then I won't have a high beam. If that means a better cut off, then I would probably just cover it up and live without the high beam.

It should be something with out hi/lo harness maybe a wire needs to be flipped??

Honestly the hi beam is like what everybody has been saying here. it's really not that dramatic in helping you see better.

I'm kinda pissed cause I think after aiming them down just a little, I cant really see that much in a far distance now i gotta decide in either getting additional driving lights when i need to see distance, or putting some HID"s in the stock foglights which i'm gonna do any way haha, that halogen yellow looks like rust on Bently compared to the HID's

Wish i could afford a projector retrofit!
 
That's fine with me. I honestly bought them for two reason. 1. The shield looks better on the Hi/Lo than the only low kit. 2. It comes with a relay, which is apparently a $15 value.

If the highs work good, but if they don't I'm not going to be bummed.

Actually if they don't work very well that will give me even more reason to cover that hole.

thorridder- I don't know if I understand the whole situation. Your highs come on when you try and turn on your fog lights?
 
Yeah my IPFs look like dull flashlights compared to the HIDs. But I have noticed the HIDs are awesome - out to about 100 feet or so. The IPF lights are pointed down range maybe 200-250 feet.
I think I may put some yellow bulbs in those for offroading and driving on the beach.
 
My PIAA's are the ION crystal yellow and they didn't make that much of a difference as far as distance. I'm sure the HID 3000k yellow may be a little better? is that what your planning on getting?
 
TRD - you should have seen my face when it happened. im going to look at it tmro, but i think thats what it is just something flopped maybe

clemson - you got it, push it forword, pull it back, and swist the stock fog thing, all turn the brights on and the fogs dont
 
got my slim 35 watt 5k kit today, cant wait to install it.

Just about everything is plug and play, only a power wire and a ground need to be hooked up.

I do wish certain wires were alittle longer, but it will be easy to extend if needed.

:bravo: So many people are getting these things haha! fricken sweet... I'm think im going to order a 3K kit or a another 45K for my fogs now, not sure on the color yet. Plus it looks like a chore to get them in the stock fogs?

Has anyone actually driven in the fog with their 45K+ kits? i would think it would be really bad with all that white light??

funny story... the other day my dad picked me up from the airport and he was going off on all these guys with HID's he absolutely hates them! I neglected to tell him i have them now :shrug: LOL he complains about all kinds of things people do while they're driving so its just one of those things that bothers some of the older people.
 
I'm ready to put mine in. Can't wait for Christmas.

I'm hoping these 35 watt 5,000K will be the same color as my 55 watt 5,000K.
