HID kit help (DDM)

Yeah, I've seen that guide. It's pretty nice. Too bad they don't send it with the kit.

From the pictures it doesn't look like the shield covers the bulb very much. I might have to add to it.

It seems solid to me, but i was thinking of maybe opening it up a little more to eliminate any "dark spots"

I think if you open it up it will cause more glare. Might as well try it though I guess.

first with the installation guide i tried to find the 9003 H4 bulb one and i didn't see anything are all the hi/lo kits are they all just the same?

Next is it looks like you have to rig these ballast to your battery (correct me if im wrong) Right now i have a couple things rigged up to the battery now (my PIAA lights and my stereo system.) Deceptiwave you mentioned your getting a fuse box, is this something to use as an alternative to hooking all these wires to your battery?

well the 5000k looks F'en sweet in my VW R32.. so bright and id def. pure white. Compared them to my Dads Audi S8 and Id say they look Just as good. His cut off is soooooo nice though

Put mine in a few weeks back.

FYI, in order to get the bulbs to lock into the housing (if you are still using stock) I had to cut a few chips out of the 'weather cover' or in order to push the HID in all the way...you will see what I mean when you try to put it in. I zip tied the boxes to existing stuff under the hood. I also had to run the ground from the passenger side HID to the battery b/c I didn't have anything to ground it too on that side...so I just ran it back over and wire tied it with the other wires randomly going in front of the engine (watch out for the radiator fan!!..haha).

Overall the lights work well. I have been bright-lighted once and that was by a miata that was probably staring directly into them. I will post some pics next week...been swamped lately.

Also, you can download the directions off of DDM's site...super easy. Took me less than an hour to do everything...first time to do anything like this.

Disable the DRL's and when you do make sure it is the correct wire...there are 2 yellow/black wires...I mentioned it in the thread below I think.

Had the same problem- I had to run my wires over my radiator fan and taped them their/ ziptied them to a few places so they'd stay in place. Been that way for over 6 months, no problem. I was scared at 1st because I thought they sent me the wrong kit and it took me about 30 mintues to figure out how I was too run them. Too short of wires... I also had to slice open my light weather cover to fit it in there, wasn't too bad and didn't do a perfect job, yet absolutely no problems so far and wheeled through water with them too so. Seem to be great!!!

hmm im actually interested in this, where do you get these things at? and your saying this is a better alternative to having a bunch of wires rigged on to your battery?

got the HID kit today. These things are huge! Everything looks good though, they feel pretty durable and it looks like a quality kit for what i paid. It didn't come with any sticky tape or zip ties so i may have to come up with something myself.
Im planning on installing it tonight or tomorrow im not sure yet. Im pretty re****ed when comes to installing stuff like this but i may figure it out

So im assuming that the metal shield on there is the casper shield?

Yep. That's the shield. Thanks for the pictures.

It shouldn't be too hard to install. You will have a wire going to your battery, one or two grounds, and then plug the bulbs into the ballasts.

I'm ready to see some pictures with it installed.

I see what you mean now, My ebay set did NOT come with shield now after seeing it. I had people high beeming me daily on my other car.

I like having the extra expandability and protection of the fuse block. You can get them on amazon or at a boating supply store.
