HID Retrofit on 4th gen - Shroud?

I am planning on tackling a retrofit job on my vehicle and was wondering what shroud would look best/fit best? If you have any opinions on what one and why just post a comment!

I tried my best in doing a photoshop job on each of the shrouds I am interested in... Sorry for the bad photoshop skills! The list starts from the top -> down and left -> right.
1) Panamera
2) Gatling gun
3) Gatling gun v2.0
4) Orbit
5) Other (please state which one...)

Don't care for the 1st one (too girly). Second one is best. I think it matches the base of your instrument needles. I wanted to get Gatling gun shrouds, but they didn't fit my application

Keep it simple man, when i did a retro for my dad's tacoma 06, i decide to use the bullet shroud, worked quite well since i seen alot of apollo shrouds. U can also paint the shroud u get black too.

Gatling Gun all the way. I just took mine apart and painted them. Here's a pic of them painted and unpainted. FYI, make sure to use some sort of sealant/glue on the shroud. I didn't the first time and one of them shook free and was scratching the inside of my headlight. It didn't fall off completely but was an annoyance. My buddy did the same retro on his Taco and his Apollo shroud fell off completely. When I blacked out the headlights I glued the shrouds in place.

Be prepared to cut a lot on the orbit. They are deep! I put them on Morimot Mini D2S, and I had to cut the back of them to make it fit.

Krupnation, did you end up cutting the shroud a lot or did you just have to have to cut the reflector housing? Or both?

I don't really have an opinion, as I think they all look good haha, but second might be a little nicer than rest.
I just want to see finished product, and a nice write up, as I want to do the same thing.

I actually didn't have to cut either. The only thing you have to do to make the Mini Morimoto H1 projector fit is grind down the rear of the housing where your normal halogen bulb is locked in. Below is a pic of what I mean. You have to grind it down almost 3/8" to get the projector lock nut on and snug. The shroud fits perfect over the projector, just as it's made too. I did have to glue the shroud in place this time as if you take it offroad and it gets jarred around, the shroud may come loose. I also used some silicon behind the projector as the rubber grommet provided in the kit didn't give me enough stabilization. You can't see the silicon, it's hidden behind the shroud.

How is the output on these? I was debating on the FX-R's or these but wasn't sure which to go with.

the fxr is better than the minis, but if u chose to use oem projectors like tl and fx35-45 and rx afs and s2k and ls430 or ls460, it beats them night and day.

Hey Chaos, I just noticed that you asked me about output on the Mini H1. I think it does a really nice job for being an aftermarket product. I used to drive an Audi and compared to that it is just as good if not better output. The beam pattern is nice and wide.

Just like all mods though, it isn't enough for me now. I'll probably upgrade to FXR or S2K's (expensive!!!) down the road but I love my current setup. Now that the days are getting shorter I'll go out and take a few pics and post the light output on these Mini's for you.

I decided on the FX-Rs. I'm going to get in on the group buy on tacoma world. Now I just don't know what shroud to go with......... damnit. I need to decide soon.

Get the original Gatlin Gun, if it fits over the FXR.
